Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)


"After four years in Caen, Alexandre Mendy wants to turn the page. But what Sunderland, with whom he very quickly reached an agreement, is offering to buy out his last two years of contract is out of all proportion to the expectations of the Malherbes. Less than a million euros for the top scorer in Ligue 2, who currently has no replacement, is a no. "For a transfer to be made, everything has to come together and everyone has to be happy," recalls Romain Thomas. "There is a party that is not happy."

I can believe prior to takeover that we had tried to just buy out the contract, he’s probably their top earner and they were desperate for funds. Post takeover there’s no way that would be acceptable and the fee probably should be around 2-3m.

It's just taking the piss really, he's clearly been our number one target all summer and we just seem to be assuming they'll cave.
