Durham’s One Day Cup Campaign

Yes, slim, because we needed to win all 3 of our remaining games, having only won 2 from 5 up to that point. Only 3 qualify.
Not slim after today's win do you think they will bring in the hundred players if they become available for derby game.

Are you just argumentative for the sake of it?

I think most people would agree going into the last three games that ‘slim’ would be a fair word to describe our chances of qualification.

Cracking win today, slim hopes still alive.
If we win the last two we can still finish top.

Amazing to win by a big margin as our NRR was in the bin.

Finger crossed we will get our lads back for Derbyshire if the Leeds crisp packets get knocked out.

Only 8 games mate

Kent v Durham today.

Durham win the toss and elected to bat.

Hogg and Minto left out from the squad that was named for this match.

Great article albeit the Lions game is going really well for the lads involved.

An XI that wouldn't have got a chance if not for the Hundred I'd suspect. So I'd temper that article with that thought.

But at same time the points all completely valid too.

I’d go back to playing it at the beginning of the season. Maybe even switch back to the 40 over format too.

I wouldn't object to that. When this format was used in the old Sunday League there were some very enjoyable games.

Can't see it being globally acceptable though.

The Nonsense isn't globally acceptable either, but it didn't stop the ECB doing it

I've always preferred 40 over matches to 50.

Is that important though? As the lads playing for the england lions would still be playing competitive team cricket.

Seems daft to argue that there are too many teams inthe county scene and it dilutes the quality of what's on offer and 8 teams would be better to develop international players only to then schedule 8 crisp packet teams 18 counties and an england lions game all at the same time and claim THAT is what's best to develop talent

Hamza Shaikh made his FC debut and scored 91 against a Test attack, I'd argue that's better for him than playing Worcestershire who have a side made up of 2nd division bowlers.

16 year old Farhan Ahmed also made his FC debut. Neither would have got a chance this season for their counties and ditto McKinney playing only his 4th FC game.

I still think the article is absolutely spot on, just tempering it slightly as I think it's provided an opportunity they'd not have got otherwise.

Finding the positive out of a negative, not my usual take :lol:

Why does it matter that it's not globally accepted? If it appeals here, play it. Tactically and skillwise it's the same as the 50 overs albeit a slightly abridged version.

I get what you're saying, but it's the polar opposite of FTECB's argument about too many domestic teams
