Ben Stokes “Durham > England”

Spot on.
Haven’t watched a ball, refuse to watch this shite… from a long standing cricket lover.
Me neither. It was created to make money but it's a disaster.

There was a Canadian T20 tournament going on at the same time as the first two weeks of the 16.4. I noticed one person playing was David Warner.

Now the bloke may be an a-hole but he is the sort of player that needs to be in the 16.4 if the ECB are serious about this tournament.

Instead he is probably earning more money in a tournament most people outside of Canada aren't aware of or don't give a f*** about.

But I'm straying off point slightly. Losing our Premier player in a tournament he barely plays in just adds insult to injury.

Warner was in The Hundred auction and nobody took him. Only got the most career runs in IPL for a non Indian player.

Maybes as he was signed up to play in Canada too but sure this was done after The Hundred auction.

As Shaheen Shah Afridi gave up his hundred deal to go play in Canada instead.

100% agreed.

It's a f***ing shambles and any supposed cricket people complicit in it are part of the problem.

Fuck them all for speeding up the death of cricket.
if it was left the way it was it would be nearly dead already, they needed a format to sell and to be on some free to air TV too (and before you say spend it on the blast) that doesnt work for the TV schedule with 18 teams , from listening to bostocks comments its the only way some Counties will even survive is their share from this..

Would it be dead? Overall yearly in profit by £10s m from England receipts.
short format is essential to attract youngsters.
So you have a 2 division T20,the top division being the TV focus. Promotion and relegation adding end of season interest to prevent staleness.

Meanwhile, Ollie Pope has been withdrawn from the Spirit squad for tonight. The ECB are understandably managing his workload, following the news that Pope will captain England in the first Test against Sri Lanka next week and with the Spirit already elminated

Seems the Superchancers success is more important than Englands.

Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Considering the latest news about Stokes and him possibly even being a doubt for the Pakistan tour, I’m sure now more than ever he’d be in agreement with the thread title.

FTECB.

I’ll be amazed if Stokes or Wood play 10 times again for Durham

Hopefully we may see Carse and Potts again but if they do well, then it’s goodbye to them as well

Do county teams get any compensation for their best players basically being away with England all the time?
I think it depends on what contract they have. Or it used to be that way anyway. When they just had full and incremental contracts I think the county would get a token gesture if the player was on a full England contract and if they were on an incremental contract we would get a big contribution to their county salary.

Now I’m not so sure because they just give full contracts of varying lengths.
