Ross Stewart

Hindsight make us all billy big balls ! lets not turn what was a stroke of good luck for us and poor luck for southampton into some sort of mechavelian master stroke on behalf of speakman .cos it wasn't!!Lets see what he does next season shall we?

It would have been a much better deal if they'd went out and got a first team ready replacement for Stewart with that money.

Very true !unless someone on here knows better i would bet the deal involved a fitness to play element and games played so i doubt we got anything near the figures quoted! If we had sourced a decent enough striker under TM we would have got promoted that season!

They did really well to sign him for nowt, and sell him for a fortune even though he was and is still crocked.

Your desperation to make sure they don’t get credit for anything is very weird.

There you go again. Widely reported we got 8m up front and another 2m on their promotion. Feel free to make stuff up so you don’t have to face reality though, seems like hard work but you seem to enjoy it.

It's great to get that kind of money in, but us as fans haven't seen the benefit of it. We were told that the model was to buy, develop, sell, and then buy better, but that hasn't been the case with the Stewart money. He went late in the summer window so the money didn't get used, and of the two strikers we looked at in the Jan window one of them (Moore) was going to be a loan which proved to be too expensive.

Tbf, you’re the one who quoted £8m with £2m on promotion.

Wallop

That year and a bit he had for us he was sensational. Had absolutely everything you would want from a modern lone forward.

Have you seen anything of Miles Leaburn at Charlton? Was out with an injury most of last season, but he reminded me a lot of Stewart.

An element of catch up from the previous signings. Not big deals but all adds up.

It's got nowt to do with Hindsight or my massive plums- he was sold injured and has done fack all at saints since he joined, other than sit on the physio couch and earn 30k a week. It was good business man. Whys that so hard for you to comprehend

If people can’t grasp it was arguably the best bit of transfer buisness in SAFC history there’s no point in discussing the matter with them marra

Most people said it at the time it was good business. £12m for a 28yo off the back off a serious injury. Even if he’d scored 30 I’d have said it was good business. Inevitable as well, he didn’t want to sign a new deal so was either that or lost him on a free.
