Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)


Impressive record last couple of seasons. I’m not sure how good the French second tier is but if he could get even 10-15 goals for us it would be massive given we got next to nothing from Rusyn, Mayenda, Hemir and the Chelsea loanee last year.

Probably slightly better than our third tier. I agree…if his form translates it would be good.

I wonder what our bid is…I’m guessing less than a million

No. Its just not a guaranteed meter. Nothing is.

My worry is that speakmans data is not very good at getting strikers. Or goalkeepers tbf but luckily we have a good pipeline for that in our academy

Even if you are mainly focusing on youth with signings, you have to mix in some older, experienced players for leadership on the pitch.

We jettisoned Gooch and Pritchard and Dack was a crock, so experience is certainly welcomed.

Picking and choosing which posts to reply to after being shown up. Embarrassing really.
 
Important to consider that although his record in Ligue 1 looks poor at surface level, he was effectively only playing 800mins a season or about 9 full games. Of course coming on for 30 mins 3 times doesnt equate to the same chances as getting a full 90.

To break it up:
- 2015/16 381mins over 18 games = 1 goal
- 2016/17 801mins over 22 games = 3 goals
- 2017/18 793mins over 16 games = 4 goals
- 2018/19 764mins over 16 games = 3 goals
- 2019/20 897mins over 20 games = 3 goals and 1 assist

This totals 3636 minutes with 15 goals and assists. Or 0.37 g/a per 90.

And then of course he has since shown how his ability in ligue 2 by being 3rd, then 2nd and then 1st in the golden boot race.

Granted its not ideal that he was seemingly a 2nd thought at these ligue 1 teams, but he was signed for a bordeaux team that were competing in the europa league. He was just a 2nd/3rd choice striker for a solid Ligue 1 side, definitely feels worth the "risk" if we bring in Mendy and another striker.
