Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Seems to be some championing again for a player, whose stats are in a poor standard league of football and on a 3 minute youtube clip condensed from 3420 minutes of football, last season.....

Shades of Ignacio Scocco, allover again!

Is it important though…seems like making excuses. If he wasn’t starting it’s because his coaches didn’t think he was good enough. If you’re going on minutes then what about talking about the advantages of playing against tired players?

He has been poor wherever he has played and for every club.
Yes Patterson is shit as well because he’s never scored for us. 🙄

For me any forward is as good as the support he gets too many times last season we had forwards on or people shoe horned into forward positions and given no support and then they had to come deep to look for the ball. Our formation and set up will dictate how this guy will do our midfield needs to be strong and take the game to the opposition not stand off go forward not sideways or play back to the goalkeeper when in the final third of the pitch. At times watching England is like watching Sunderland
Agree
Mowbrays whole game plan by the end was ‘get it to Clarke’
Dodds Christ Haaland wouldn’t of scored goals way he set us up

Yeah I agree, he wasn't good enough for a team in Europe for sure but we aren't. As for the benefits and negatives of coming on exclusively as a substitute, tbh I wasn't really commenting either way just saying what the numbers were. As I said its not the same chances as starting, you play against tired player but also have to adjust to the pace of the game and only have 20mins to make your impact instead of working out how to beat your defender over the course of a game.

Swings and roundabouts really, I'd still want Mendy and another striker who would come in and challenge him for the starting spot since I don't think hes a certain success, but I like what I've seen.
I agree with all of that.

The only thing I would say is that he’s never been transferred for any material fee that I’m aware of and I hope that if we bring him in we don’t spunk a lot of money on him, because there’s more obvious options out there if we have money to spend.

How do you decifer any you tube video of a player from what's good or bad ?

I bet you wanked over will griggs videos on you you tube before he signed for us

Yeah I mean, I can't try and defend how good a player will be before he's signed and played a few games. But my initial feeling is that it would be a decent bit of business and provide our french players with someone experience who speaks the language and help to develop the likes of Hemir and Mayenda - potentially not enough to ever be important enough for us but maybe to get a decent little profit on them eventually.

What other strikers do you reckon are more obvious options?

That poor standard of league is basically on par with our league mate and Burnley have just signed their new striker from it. But I bet some will moan we didn’t try and go for hi.

Miovski or Broadhead (in that order)

I think Mayenda is getting tarred with the 4 striker brush from last year.

He was 18 coming into a new country definitely bought as one for the future. Mowbray talked him up which he didn't do for any of the other 3. I think Mayenda has the potential to be a lot better then many expect. At the very least he at least looks like he wants to get involved and has plenty of time to improve.

I agree he may come good, but I think he's shown all the signs of being a winger rather than a striker. Just from the little we've seen of him.
