His ego and stubborness as well as needing his mates in increasingly key positions is not good for the football club.

Ive very little sympathy for Beale and was always likely to fail (Speakman appointment) but not allowing him to bring his assistant in despite him watching us at Ashton Gate didnt give him the best chance of being a success. Instead he promoted his mate to No. 2.

As poor as Beale was, he was on his own in a new job, surrounded by Speakman’s mates. It very rarely tends to go well when a head coach goes into a new job on his tod, which is why it very rarely happens — they usually insist on bringing someone they know.

He does make mistakes. Plenty. He also has teflon like qualities where nothing sticks. If something goes wrong it invariably gets blamed on someone else and if goes well then he gets the credit.

A lot of the players within the new intake of scholars and 1st team pros were in the building before he arrived and whilst continued development needs praising is it him? The best asset within the academy is Pruds. Consistently delivers at all levels. Whilst academy has done well we lost to Swindon in FAYC this year who despite knocking out Man Utd were later knocked out by Bristol City.

The best I have seen the academy was around 2007/08 when Bally ran it. I went to Charlton I think to watch them in FAYC (think Waghorn scored) and did far better than this years group when they possibly lost in semis to Man City.

Retaining young players has been much better than under previous regime when Greenwood, Stephenson, McConnell, Hugill, Pye etc... and for that KLD deserves credit for not cashing in.

Alex Neil and Mowbray were Speakman appointments aswell.

The job Speakman has done is a chairman's dream.

Appointed to a club languishing in L1 full on ageing average players with no value.

Turned that to a club promoted to the championship after one full season and reaching the play offs the following season.

Yes we done on a limited budget. Creating real high value in the playing squad.

Also transforming the Academy from one openly selling all the best assesses to high performance with extremely strong retention of top talent.

These are all facts not made up conspiracy theories

The academy was an absolute shell when he took over , now it's thriving and young players want to stay.. obviously none of his doing.

From an owner's perspective he's done a great job, it's why I believed Lyon could have been looking at him. Obviously fans see things differently, if the team is winning he's doing a good job, otherwise he isn't.

It really isnt very difficult for a person or agent to plant a story in the papers about interest.

If hes as good as he thinks he is why hasnt he left to a club in PL or Europe?

They have basically done nearly everything right post sacking Mowbray, then a series of poor decisions were made.

It happens and they get benefit of the doubt from me.

The value of the squad compard to the day Speakman was employed is remarkable like.

Some of the recruitment has been great.

But when recruitment goes well he gets the credit. Stuart Harvey gets very little in comparison. Thats Stuart Harvey who is Head of Rec. Of those signings who are now our most saleable assets most were found by other clubs and we gave them a platform to reignite their stalling careers. Trai Hume, who is one we certainly did find, came from Stuart Harvey and his contacts in NI.

He is one of people but I repeat the best asset within the academy is Pruds.

I don’t think you understand his role. In fact I don’t think majority of this board do. He’s in overall charge of the sporting operations of the club. He has heads in each department who are responsible for the performance of these areas.

I also don’t believe people realise how bad the aol was, the coaching set up, the way the club operated. We had some gems like pruds, but like others have said the club is now at a level which it should have been under short and Donald.

There’s a long way to go. But you don’t rip it all up cos we’ve had a bad season.

As to your point, found by other clubs. We still had to identify and bring those players in. You’re going on like we got incredibly lucky or not giving the club credit for putting that type of recruitment in place.

There’s countless players who have come good after not getting a chance at their first club. But it’s a bad thing that we do it? Just a weird thing to criticise the club about.

There was no talk in the papers, it was just "itk" type posts, I doubt agents planted those, all I said was I found it believable.

So he can only be judged to have done a good job if he leaves?

You could easily argue he inherited a squad in L1, where Denver Hume and Jordan Willis were the best prospects. Without spending a massive amount, he's had us challenging for top 6 in the Championship barring the last 14 games. We also have a far more valuable squad than basically any time since we were in the PL, all under decent length contracts. We've just kept our best youth prospect in forever despite interest from some of the richest clubs in the world.

All of that is why I think an owner could look at him and say he's a good sporting director.

Speakman spoke openly about Dodds “pathway” and he was on the same path as Beale. Dodds spoke openly about wanting to be head coach.

Why the usual pile on again?

Thankfully he didn’t get the job, maybe he never had a chance at the permanent job here, but it’s not a conspiracy or “paranoid” for someone to have suggested it was possible

As for the rest, I agree that the academy is light years from where it was when they arrived. I like the principle of what they’re trying to do, however have to hope they have learnt from the mistakes of the past year and will be more flexible this summer. That’s my only concern, that the “model” is too rigid. Let’s see where we are in September. I’m hoping for a good summer

Maybe he didn't get the job because he didn't deserve it. Had Dodds got us into the play offs maybe he'd have been an option, nothing wrong with that.

Regarding Speakman. Hard facts are hard to argue against
