Speakman was desperate to give the job to Dodds on a full time basis. Not even he, with his ego and his friendship could even do that after the run he went on after taking over from Beale. We even had Dodds saying he would like to be manager one day to sew the seed. The pair of them and English are thick as thieves and a Head Coach who isnt "on side" to them weakens their stranglehold. We even have Stuart English on the interviewing panel - well he would agree with Speakman if he told him today was Wednesday.

As we saw with Mowbray, who was very popular, fans took his side when questioning the lack of striker, replacement for Evans & in America the open criticism of no experience being brought in. Speakman needs to be number 1. He needs to be the one praised when going well and he needs to be immune from criticism. He needs eyes and ears in the dressing room to report back to him. This is why Beale wasnt allowed his number 2 and why RLB hasnt been allowed to bring anyone in as yet. If rumours from within AoL are to be believed Speakman & English are shortlisting and RLB can appoint who he wants from that list.

Sooner Speakman is peddled the better and then let people earn jobs on their skillset rather than who their friends friends football friends are.

Speakman does need to be number 1 given his title, Mowbs took a fan's perspective, it isn't very helpful when it comes to actually running a club.

Someone saying "Speakman was desperate to give Dodds the job" isn't any kind of fact though. In no way was that poster trying to claim that he knew the inner workings of the club.

It's in no way unreasonable to suggest that Dodds getting the gig until the end of the season was a trial run for him getting it permanently. That's all the poster was getting at but the usual suspects have jumped all over the wording used.
Saying Speakman was desperate to give Dodds the job is somewhere trying to state a fact. How you can claim otherwise is frankly ridiculous

Don’t agree with this mind

Mowbray didn’t take a “fans perspective”, he simply knew he needed a striker! He wasn’t wrong or emotional on that. It was simply what the team needed…

Maybe people need to start writing “imo” after everything they post

Would hopefully satisfy you and Blyth ;)

That's no worries, all about opinions.

What I meant by fans' perspective is that they want everything needed now, would a striker, a midfielder and x,y and z have had us in a better position in the league, I would have thought so but that isn't running a business, that's a wishlist without context. Adding fuel to the fire by going over it again and again despite knowing the parameters under which we run was less than helpful and ultimately cost him his job, I think.

If the reports store to be believed then he could quite possibly be purchasing a Michael Reddy themed thong

He was running a football team and it needed a striker. That’s not taking the fans’ view and it’s not an unreasonable expectation.

That may be his and your opinion but it leads me back to my original point.
Which was specious reasoning on your part. He was running a football team while the leadership were taking random gambles on (as it turns out) players who were not good enough and may never be good enough. Not sure if you’re being deliberately obtuse but it’s not unreasonable for a head coach to expect to have players in each position who can at least compete. Suggesting he was impatient or unreasonable is just plain wrong.

He was coaching a first team for a football club, model and all. Funnily enough, that model produced some of the best football in his career the season before, when he didn't believe it could. Had he embraced it a little more perhaps he may not have been sacked, who knows. He played the game full well knowing what it may cost him and I dare say he felt the fan's perspective would play in his favour.

That’s just a random rant about nowt

Of course I have. But I’ve never posted them as facts.

It’s not hard to say I think Jack Clarke will be away this summer, as opposed to Jack Clare is leaving this summer.

One is opinion and one is stated as fact.

If someone says KS was desperate for dodds to get the job, how are people supposed to take that? Oh he didn’t mean it. Ok.

For all we know he might be. Again I’m not saying either way, as I don’t know.

You’re right there’s no point engaging. Least that’s something we can both agree on.

No one has said that’s not the case.
 Why on earth are you picking at the lad's words then?

@G Force is right. We're going to have to end every sentence with IMO to avoid these mental pile ons.

Because everything thing else was ridiculous. I’ve never claimed they wanted him as head coach or didn’t, as I don’t know. It’s that simple.

No you’re not. Just don’t post conspiracy theories as a fact. It’s not hard. It’s fairly simple. Yet here you are unable to grasp it.
