Ross Stewart

How do you think Ross will get on in the Premier League?

I recall Rodney Marsh once saying SKP would not score 5 goals before he went in to score 30.

I am of the same opinion of Ross. Good luck to him and I hope he is over his injuries but I can’t see him scoring many against Premier League defences.
Southampton will probably be in bottom 5 all season. Which means the strikers won’t be scoring many. 5/6 at the most for me..

He’d be a fantastic PL striker if he’s fit and if the injuries haven’t crippled him. He’s easily good enough for a West Ham, Villa type side and would offer a lot more outside of goals too than Adam’s or Armstrong. That said, there’s always the fitness caveat and whether he comes back as the same player he was when he was here
Just look at Adam Armstrong 53 PL appearances 4 goals for Southampton

Yet 20+ goals again in the championship again and he’s better than Stewart
Totally different type of striker that will always struggle against top PL defences when their teams always under pressure and his main role is often to secure possession rather than score goals

Fantastic PL striker 😅 Jesus Wept

He gets more overrated on here the more he doesn’t play

And was then offered shit wages to stay….
Not sure what your point is here.
my point is people were saying we need to change from signing obscure cheap players if we want to succeeed but stewrat was a success and was signed cheaply from an obscure league!
Any evidence stewart was offered shit wages to stay?
Southampton are certainly paying him too much..good luck to the lad but its not SAFC that were the mugs on this..Souhtampton were...

Well, Clarke, patto, Ballard etc all signed on better terms, Stewart didn’t.
We lost the one goal scorer we had because we would pay what he was worth and this was way before his second injury.
The club will go nowhere fast with the model imposed.
Anyone with half a brain will tell you that. Granted, you will argue the other side because that’s what you do

I dont agree with the model as currently being implemented and have made that clear from day I.
Hoever I think its very hard to assess what Stewart is "worth" given his age, injury record and relatively unproven nature at championship level. We didnt really lose a goal scorer when we lost stewart, he hasnt been available to score goals consistently for a long time..as evdienced by the fact he has only been available for about 20 games in the past two seasons..and at his age..its hard to justofy waiting..
Stewart did very well for SAFC when he played and was an excellent signing by Johnson...but selling him to a bunch of mugs for more than he will ever be worth was the smart thing to do..not giving him loads of extra wages

He's made 19 appearances since the playoff final, 2 years ago. And he's barely played at this level. We did well to flog him for what we got tbh.

We didn’t lose a goalscorer when we lost Stewart.

It wasn’t selling him that was wrong it was replacing him.
He has barely played since and we don’t know if he will be the same once he does.

10 league goals since we left League 1, 2 years ago.

Banging them in when he wasn’t injured.
He’s now a premier league player…
Still his replacements have been tremendous aye?

And if me synth had a cock…
The point I’m making is even when he was for and scoring we made pathetic offers that his mind was made up to leave.
No ambition and want everything on the cheap

he wasny available to score goals cos he was injjured...thats why he didnt score any last season...

The season before ya tattie.
Mind you never saw any because you have never been to a game…
he isnt a premier league player yet...

He’s registered for a premier league team thus he’s a premier league player, semantics don’t work on here.
He’s not a league 1 player or championship is he ffs
