You didn't go to the quieter side. You went to a peninsula with bugger all there apart from turtles!
I’ve just spotted Marita’s Apartments on Google Maps.Thank you , I’m really looking forward to getting there. The apartments are quite close to the beach and apparently a bus stop is nearby.
Oh wise SMB, we have decided, heatwave and dead TV presenters notwithstanding, that we will be going to visit a Greek island this Summer, but having never been before we have no real idea as to where to go.
The main criteria are that it has to be picturesque, near the water and have plenty of decent tavernas / restaurants where we can sit preferably by a lovely harbour or somesuch and relax with nice local seafood etc. But no thumping house beats from local bars, no cheesy cafes advertising a full bloody english for 5 euros, don't want it to be too built up, and so on. Think Malcesine on Lake Garda but shifted to Greece. Any ideas based on good experiences, anyone?

aye your right like.murder when you get 2 or 3 cruise ships in together
Thank you , I picked it because it was really close to the beach and I was hoping to be central for everything so it looks like a good choice!I’ve just spotted Marita’s Apartments on Google Maps.
If you head back up to the main road and turn right, Agia Marina centre is about 3 minutes away - so you’re pretty central![]()
I found the cost of everything far worse than that, although worse might be a strong word because I loved the place and it is stunning. We rented a quad bike so we got to explore all over the island.murder when you get 2 or 3 cruise ships in together
We were there the same time , come back last SatWe’ve been to Lindos on Rhodes a few times and Kommeno Bay in Corfu and they’re both fantastic places to visit/stay. Just come back from a week in Paphos on Cyprus on Monday morning, hotter than average for the time of year at temperatures of 35 being the peak during our stay.
Stayed at Marni village, great restraunts leading towards Piskopiano, food is class!Sounds class, where you heading in Koutouloufari or just seeing when you get there?
Just had a look on Google maps to see where those apartments are. I watched those get built over the years and we lived further up that hill for about 18 months. We are staying at Tsaros pool this year just up the hill behind Sugar and Almond. I hire a car for the week and pick it up at the airport and drop off at the airport. Was our first choice for last week's trip to corfu but couldn't find accommodation we fancied. Stayed there 3 years back and loved it, great little place, Zorbas is a fantastic restaurant.
We stayed in Sugar and Almond apartments when we were there, got it for £44 night on Booking.com, had to be a mistake as next year they wanted £160 per night.
They are very nice apartments but the price is mental now as they are very popular, and there's only 4 of them. The owners brother has a taxi business also and picked us up from the airport when we stayed there. We normally would rent a scooter to get about on. Staying in Agios Gordios last week we rented car from airport for the week, think we only used it one day apart from the transfers.Just had a look on Google maps to see where those apartments are. We used to walk past Tsaros if we walked up the hill and over to Arrilas for breakfast. Nice spot.Just had a look on Google maps to see where those apartments are. I know Corfu like the back of my hand now so we like to get out and about during the day to visit different places. Long gone are the days of being a spit roast and burning to death on a sunbed. They are very nice apartments but the price is mental now as they are very popular, and there's only 4 of them. Tsaros is owned by a very good friend of mine. We stay with them every year. We head out in July and hopefully again in Sept.We used to walk past Tsaros if we walked up the hill and over to Arrilas for breakfast. Nice spot.
Just the 34 years ago I went with you. Fuck me man, old bastards! Is it a bit calmer there these days. Went a couple of times over 30 years ago and it could be a bit wild.
We fly to Kos with TUI on Wednesday. Land nearly 11PM Greek time. Arrive back just after 2AM.Reading this thread whilst simultaneously scanning Jet2 as fancy Greece for next year for the 1st holiday for 20 years without kids. Only issue seems to be flight times.
I know mate. Can’t believe how time goes by so quickJust the 34 years ago I went with you. Fuck me man, old bastards!

Both short journeys from the airport to digs / home so it's manageable. If the flight times are iffy you tend to get the holiday a bit cheaper as they are less popular.
totally agree. the accommodation / hotels / apartments tend to be off the main road through the village and although not a big place there is enough of a variation of bars / tavernas for most people.Indeed
Lassi is probably the one place in kefalonia where you would say there is a strip.
Mostly nice fishing villages.. half a dozen bars and a load of tavernas
Just had a look. Yeah I think we'll try it out, cheers. If you want a nice sunset view with your scran and don’t fancy heading up to Zia, take a look at Lofaki restaurant just outside of Kos Town
Try out this Rodos old town restaurant we went to last year. Beautiful place with lovely food. Treat your good ladyWhereabout in Rhodes are you. I’m off there in September for about the 100th time![]()
