CC : Essex v Durham

Red ball cricket returns on Sunday after a month off with our visit to Chelmsford. The hosts lie in second place in the table on 113 points, a mere two behind Surrey following the latter's demolition at the hands of Hampshire. We lie in fifth on 83 points after our excellent victory over Somerset in less than five sessions.

We have of course played Essex in April in a drawn game where the third day was washed out. Nick Browne (184) and Khushi (107) scored centuries as did Colin Ackermann (112). As previously mentioned Essex have a dangerous Championship attack in Porter, Cook, Slater and of course Harmer but we will have Ben Stokes in out line up who bowled superbly against Somerset and with Stokes anything is possible.

No team news yet of course but if Ackermann is injured then I would imagine Jones would return to open with Lees with Badger moving down to No.3. Potts was rested against Somerset so maybe he'll be back in for Coggs but one things certain..there will be no Carse.

Whisper it but the forecast looks excellent.

As ever...Haway Durham !!

Incorrect 👎 Are you thinking of the double act that won Opportunity Knocks 🤔
Martin Peters and Franny Lee.

I seem to have a vague memory of this being televised 🤔

Just seen the scorecard and noticed a young lad called Gooch due to bat No. 8. Also one of JKL's victims was the legendary SR Atkinson.

Yes,rather insecure looking TV gantry erected at the Rooney Lane end and Peter West iirc turning puce on seeing the ladder he had to negotiate to reach his commentary position.

According to The Cricketer - Elgar apparantly holds a British passport and therefore doesn't count as an overseas player.🤔
Yep appears that is the case.

Below link states Dean Elgar (South Africa as non-overseas)

Absolute bollocks then that Paul Stirling can't play for Middlesex as much as I'm a republican he was born in Britain.
