Red ball cricket returns on Sunday after a month off with our visit to Chelmsford. The hosts lie in second place in the table on 113 points, a mere two behind Surrey following the latter's demolition at the hands of Hampshire. We lie in fifth on 83 points after our excellent victory over Somerset in less than five sessions.
We have of course played Essex in April in a drawn game where the third day was washed out. Nick Browne (184) and Khushi (107) scored centuries as did Colin Ackermann (112). As previously mentioned Essex have a dangerous Championship attack in Porter, Cook, Slater and of course Harmer but we will have Ben Stokes in out line up who bowled superbly against Somerset and with Stokes anything is possible.
No team news yet of course but if Ackermann is injured then I would imagine Jones would return to open with Lees with Badger moving down to No.3. Potts was rested against Somerset so maybe he'll be back in for Coggs but one things certain..there will be no Carse.
Whisper it but the forecast looks excellent.
As ever...Haway Durham !!
