Liam Rosenior

This is an interesting excerpt from one of the posts.

What I would say is, I'd be surprised if he took the Sunderland job, purely because it all seems a bit chaotic there at the moment. I think LR really values long-term thinking and will want to get his whole club buying into his way of playing in order to build something over a period of time like Brighton and Brentford have done. That seemed to be what he wanted to do here, and it took him weeks of discussion before he accepted the job. Ultimately, he still got burned in the end because we decided we didn't want to stick to his plan after all, 18 months in. I can see him being really choosy about his next job and avoiding any where he doesn't believe he'll get complete buy-in and plenty of time.

So just to confirm, are we now all pretending to be happy it’s Rosenior?

It is what it is sadly. I'd have preferred someone more exciting but I think he'll be a decent fit for us in the short-medium term. Not sure he's the man to get us up mind which we need to do within 2 seasons if KLDs plan is to work out.

Thats a fair point. It’s not Rosenior per se for me and I think it will be the same for a lot. It’s the fact we’ve apparently been proactively looking for a manger since February to end up with a bloke who was sacked in May.
It points to real incompetence.
Quote from Dodds on 20th March:

“The last conversation I had, and this was prior to the last couple of games, was that they had shortlisted a number of potential candidates and that they were going to take their time in speaking to those people. They want to make sure they get the next appointment right and they don't want to rush that decision.
If they feel like they've got the right candidate tomorrow, then they will be in the day after tomorrow. Obviously. If they don't, then they will wait. That was the message I was given a few weeks back and I've not been told that anything has changed. If anything changes then they will communicate that with me. We've got some big games coming up because we need to change the feeling of the football club, and we know that the best way to do that is to win games of football.“

Rosenior would not have been given a second thought back then.

I'm sure most will get behind him. It not about pretending to be happy. We have to look at where we are and who is calling the shots. We're hampered due to the way we operate and that is no fault of Rosenior or anyone else who might take over as head coach.
If we're looking at Beale as the benchmark we could literally appoint almost anyone and they'd be an improvement.

He does come across as an ambitious young coach. He speaks well and his teams seem to be set up well.
I hope he gets off to good start because he's going to be up against it from day 1.

Hope he's stuck to his guns and got some assurances that he will be at least allowed to bring in an assistant and that there will be funds available to strengthen.

Will be interesting to see what spin we put on it when he's announced.
At least this time if it’s him there is at least something the fans could buy into (like AN & TM appointments).

We aren’t going up anytime soon and that’s nowt to do with the manager. Although ALOT is being made about the next coach/manager they almost have a free swing IMO given the state of the squad he will inherit.

I think that’s the reason young coaches with high stock are staying well clear of us. And to be fair I think if it ends up being Rosenior or a Heckingbottom they are taking as big a gamble on us and our owners as we are them!
