I find it amazing people don't know the kind of things that are player's contracts regarding media commitments.
It might or might not be his actual opinion, who knows? Or cares? But he wouldn't and couldn't say anything else.

The relevant point is surely that Root is not a county cricketer,he's an ECB contracted England cricketer. He's,therefore,not qualified to comment on the workload of the county cricketer.
I don't think anyone is saying any thoughts on the subject have been polished up by someone. Any article a sportsman does in a paper is ghost written to an extent but it's mental to suggest he's been forced to put it on there when he may think something different

Apparently the ecb have drafted his opinion for him and and put it out there. Issues like that are easily fudged if needed.
