VAR has ruined top level football.

Couldn't care less that it's 'only' Coventry it's absolutey shite. My mate is a Wolves season ticket holder and he's wrapped it in for the first time in 20 years because of how bad VAR has been in the games they're involved in. I might be in the majority with this comment but the Premier League is such an unattractive proposition at the moment. I just can't stand how you can't celebrate a goal anymore because you don't know if your forward was offside by the thickness of a sheet of A4. They need to address the issues with the technology or bin it off altogether. I'd rather put up with EFL referees every week than be in the PL with the current officiating system.
Now there are loads of reasons to pack in being a season ticket holder...but stopping after 20 years because of VAR ?

Seems a canny bit OTT that

To be fair, have you seen the decisions they've had go against them this season? Absolutely beyond a joke. They've had about 3 apologies from PGMOL but what's that worth? It looks absolutely f***ing shite and truthfully I'm in no rush to see us go up until it's sorted.

If VAR is to stay, and it more than likely is, then lines as thin as paper are no way to go.

Better, in my view, to fatten the lines significantly to allow for that degree of tolerance and benefit of the doubt. If there is clear daylight/pitch between the lines, you're offside. In other words, any overlap of the lines and you are not offside.

It would probably be the last straw for me too. If we ever get there or if they bring it into our League.. I'll go with it at first but after a couple of important goal celebrations have been overturned after 5 minutes of deliberation I'll struggle to excited when the ball hits the net if there's a slight chance of it being ruled out.

I'm more than happy to live with football games being officiated to the best of the on field referee judgement
If that was Sunderland this place would have exploded man. Crackers to say otherwise

Bollocks. It's tight as fuck. If it was blatant then aye, but you are clouding your judgement because VAR have had thier way with it and put lines all over it. Watch it in real time with no prejudice and it looks onside

You're such a sensible poster. I honestly can't believe you think that was the correct decision.
Tbf they've made such a mess of the offside rule, and VAR are so ludicrously inconsistent with how they seem to apply it, that I'm not particularly sure that anyone really knows whether it was the correct call under the current regulations.

This is it. How come penalty decisions need to be clear and obvious errors to be overturned yet offsides are scrutinised to the millimetre?

I have yes and I'd be going nuts, but after 20 years of being a ST holder would this be the thing that made me stop...not personally

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest but you genuinely telling me this message board would have in general just accepted it even though it showed he was offside?

Couldn't agree more. Nobody wants to see an offside given when it's as tight as that. It's always been benefit of the doubt to the attacker and it's turned into some daft twat with a protractor putting lines onto a questionable still image. Total farce.

It doesn't show it offside tho

You can keep repeating it over and over again like a Tory politician but it doesn't make it true

Take away the lines and no one would say it was a blatant error by the linesmen as it's impossible to tell

You can repeat this as many times as you want, it still doesn’t make you right. He was offside.

I'm just proving a point that it's opinion based. You and everyone else can't say 100% he was offside with the evidence we have. You just can't , it's impossible
