CC : Warwickshire v Durham

So much for the weather saving us.

It never does. TRT made the comment earlier and maybe* it’s bias but I feel like so often in the last decade or so the weather thwarts us but I genuinely can’t think of a time it’s ever genuinely saved us.

That aside, we should still be able to save ourselves today, by conventional means 🤷‍♂️

*probably

This lass on commentary not as good as previous one.?
Off the pad,half a chance!!
No pet.Its no chance
Difference being the other person was Melinda Farrell an Aussie journalist that's worked for everyone and mainly Cricinfo for over a decade.

Whereas today it's Chloe Brewer a 21 year old who plays for Birmingham Phoenix, so not quite the same level of experience in commentary duty!

All very sedate. Makes some of our dismissals over past two days even more ordinary. Good chance for Potts to get a maiden ton.

Was just looking at table and got me wondering about Essex and their point deduction.

Ours took a while to be handed out after our game. Date of game 6th Sept and deduction 29th sept.

Wonder what Joey Barton would say 🤔

Hannon-Dalby running down the pitch. Umpire getting a bit sick of it by the looks of things

His opening spell was weird. The ball was less than 15 overs old, we’re 2 down for nowt, night-watchman in and most of the stuff he was bowling was either cutters/slow balls or half arsed leg theory.

I took it as the biggest sign that the olayers know the pitch is shite, but surely for the first half hour you should be running in hard, banging it in, 3 slips and a gully and all that.

I think that is the point alongside the ball itself.

Aussie fans moaning that the shield produced a bunch of greentops in the season just gone and bowlers running riot.

So Boland probs thinking why they cut all the grass off here!

I notice that the Warwickshire groundsman has been active on Twitter actively responding to people criticising the pitch. He’s essentially saying it’s all to do with the ball, which frankly is just bollocks. The truth will be that both are to blame in part, but him getting so defensive just smacks of guilt in my mind.

I’m not a fan of this idea of using the Kookaburra in general, but if it has to come in then I can understand the rationale with a view to preparation for the next winter Ashes BUT first, why do it in the coolest/wettest month of the season AND what’s the point of having it when NONE of the centrally contracted England bowlers are playing?!

Just another example of braindead thinking from the inner workings of FTECB. It would make more sense to engineer a window of 2/3 games in the month leading up to the home Test schedule where Team England makes available all of its England players/prospects available.

Could be a big wicket for them. Would have been nice to get through the session without a wicket. Big 15 mins now.

Spin certainly looks the most threatening
