This is my problem. I’m such a doormat and I bend over backwards for other people. I hate confrontation and find it impossible to say no to people. Booked my first person-centred therapy session yesterday so see how that goes.

Hope you get a decent one and it goes well.

Nee worries, doormat, meet doormat. 🙂

Trying not to drink for a month and running every day.

Feel slightly better than last week.

I am feeling a bit lost like, I think am going to lose my job, which isn't ideal but am not that bothered like about the actual job.

But dont have any direction, never known in my life what I wanna do with it.

Wish I had something I was passionate about, everything would be so much easier

There was a thread on here a while back about changing careers - some very positive tales on there. Try and see it as an opportunity to reinvent yourself. Good luck squire.

Good luck with the session, you'll definitely be able to break away from the "doormat syndrome". You'll be helped to be yourself, I imagine it's about self confidence. Some people seem to bring themselves down over it.
You've got to have a backbone and have the courage to be unliked and be positively unpleasant when the need arises.

Watch out for those that instantly attack you when you try to stick up for yourself.
They're the ones that are build their own self confidence by trying to be in charge when others are watching. I'd bet they've been in exactly the situation that you have. Persons that do that are showing how mentally weak they are themselves. Life is all about having a backbone, courage, and being able to live with yourself.

Like the lad I know that did it, from being shell-shot when his dead end job ceased to exist he moved on to much better things - to prove it can happen.

Just browsing the thread after a bad week and you post some some utter shit mind, really unhelpful and dangerous shit

You're a nasty piece of work
I disagree.

Nasty would be borrowing money from another poster, citing very, very desperate reasons, promising to pay it back on a certain date, going through the motions of paying it back by initiating a Paypal cheque which takes days to clear, then actively logging into Paypal a few days later before the cheque cleared and actively, deliberately and intentionally cancelling the cheque, and not telling the person you've cancelled the payment.

Posting this in case anyone else feels the same sympathy that I did.

Depression/MH is no excuse for dishonesty or theft.

This poster is suffering from mental health and a lot of other things too so this is really not going to help them at all . If you have problems would it not be better to speak to the person in question(DM) instead of plastering this on a thread.

Don't assume I haven't spoken privately. I have.

I'm posting this to prevent anyone losing money they might not be able to afford to lose.

Having MH problems does not make dishonesty permissible.

Excuse me what? I could post what the poster has said in the past on the subjects in the past

But you know what, I don't care

We both know what you're on about.

Are you threatening to dox?

Well ideally I'd like my money back, *redacted*. You know like you promised to do on your pay day, 2 weeks ago. But clearly you have no intention so the best I can hope for is that you don't borrow steal from someone else on here

This is what i did last year. Had some time off work with anxiety and depression back in 2022. Hated every minute of my job and worked hard to get into a position I could leave it and pursue what I really wanted to do.
I’m now 7 months into a course to become a teacher (not everyone’s ideal at the moment but it’s mine) and only a few months to go!
I am very lucky to be in a position where we can rely on OH wage for the short term while I train and I get that not many can do that but I would say, if you can then do it!

Good luck and hugs to everyone who needs one today. You’re all smashing it whether you believe that or not. You’ve just survived another day and get another chance at this crazy life tomorrow xx

Thank you! In a school already, with this course you pretty much teach from day one and the uni is done in the background alongside it.

As from Monday I’ll be back in class teaching 80% of the weekly lessons.

Stressful looking for jobs at the moment mind, applications are so intense and that’s without any observations to plan for if you actually get an interview.

Really rewarding! And yes, really stressful! BUT it’s where I wanted to be and for that I’m thankful for the opportunity.

Thank you for your kind words x

Becoming a teacher was what my old workmate did (which had been totally outside what he did and he's not looked back).

You'll reap the personal benefits. I'm totally on you & anyone's side that goes along the career change route. 👍
