Leicester City PSR breach.

Rodgers and Congerton have a lot to answer for. We had a squad well capable of being top half let alone relegated. Them two bloated it up further on shite

We're then relegated and sell off £100m of players and cut wages sharply, should never have been in this position.

The figures this statement is relating to are from last March and I'd hope that all the sales and cuts since then should see us ok. We haven't actually done anything wrong here - EFL asking us to make a business plan because of figures submitted whilst we were in the PL. Let's be honest though we are one of the worst run clubs around.

Many players and big wages out of contract at the end of the season so of we go up were gonna have to go back to a clever recruitment model we haven't seen since Pearson's time.

Let's be honest here though, the financial rules are geared up to protect the big 6/7 and stop anyone else competing. We have an abundance of money with our owners but we're not allowed to spend it.

Why do they think you should have submitted one?

Squirrel has explained the surrounding facts. Sky Sports are reporting that Leicester said in November '23 that they were borderline to stay within the FFP guidelines for this season. EFL didn't like it wanting an assurance that they would meet them and jumped the gun, calling for this business plan. Basically, Leicester have used the fact they were in the EPL last season to mitigate that the existing EFL rules don't apply this season to them (and the other relegated teams). The Leicester argument is about when the rules should apply and is about the term 'T' (the initial season for use in the Business case need) used in the decision shows that the first season to be used is 23/24. Next season would be different but by then Leicester will be back in the EPL.

If this explanation isn't quite correct, I apologise. I'm not a lawyer or a Sports journalist ;)

And you can be certain if/when Leicester or any EPL club drop into the Championship, they'd try and use the same loophole. Which is why the EFL are now saying they'll talk to all clubs and the EPL to close that opportunity for any clubs who abuse the rules to legitimise overspending and get away with it.

Every club tries to take advantage of whatever tricks they can to be profitable and successful. This is just another trick being removed.

Ok thank you. Sounds like the “loophole” should be closed and i now loathe Leicester having quite liked them up to this point

We don't know if other clubs have abused the same rules but have got away with it by complying with the FFP rules in the EFL by the end of the relevant season. Reading the decision, this isn't a Leicester issue, it's an "EFL rules are written so badly" issue.

Yes I will loathe all teams equally

Points deductions are going to become common place in the prem and, when the EFL bring in the new rules on limits to how much you can spend on wages, our level as well

Premier League is the only league in the world with parachute payments - it's a f***ing joke!
It’s mental man. Right you’ve been utter shite here’s 100m+ for that and you’ll get another £60 or so in the lower leagues

It was something you’d see occasionally in the bottom league or dotted around the conference
* Gateshead-1 point ineligible player
* Barnet -4 failure to comply some rule

Now it’s the top tier we are seeing this. Money has killed the game on every level. It needs to eat itself and die in its current form or the average man/woman won’t be able to afford it anymore

Football is absolutely fucked isn’t it, I don’t even like it anymore, how are we ever meant to compete in the premier league again ? The mags have got loads of money but can’t spend it, it’s a closed shop it’s all bent as well, heard a story today of Chelsea buying a Mag kid, the kid wanted to move to Chelsea and his parents informed the mags he wanted to leave, the Saudis get in touch with Chelsea and tell them buy him and they’ll do no more business with Chelsea ever, I’m sure that Lewis Hall deal between the mags and Chelsea is some sort of FFP fiddle as well.
Fully agree. I rather suddenly really have virtual zero interest in football that isn't Sunderland. Watch none.

The sooner a super league is formed and the money goes the better.

That and time wasting and cheating.

How do you know Leicester haven't done anything wrong? All you are doing is believing Leicester's story because you are biased. You don't even have access to all the info and data that the EFL and CFRU do have. I doubt you have the knowledge and experience that the CFRU lawyers have, nor have you spent hundreds of hours on this case like they have. You'll have read a few articles and forum posts defending Leicester and those are what you've chosen to believe as it's in your interest.

sod "points deduction " fine them the parachute payments they recieved for cheating in the prem in the first place, if thats the case.
Its a massive advantage, what on earth is the point of a points deduction to a club thats simply getting promoted for the money they get from sometimes the invitable return to The Championship
