The club have been fairly clear they do want a midfielder that offers something different to those we currently have. I wouldn’t be surprised to see one arrive tomorrow. The lad Beale had on loan from Villa when he was at QPR perhaps.

Everyone has a limited budget. They’ve also very clearly said not bringing players in isnt because of a lack of resources. It won’t be unlimited obviously but they have a budget.

It’s not even two 20 year olds who are cheap or in positions of need either.

Aye, maybe we need a LB, but we already have two and there isn’t a squad in the championship without parachute money that can cover any eventuality and expect to have players available if e.g four full backs are out.

And then another f***ing winger.

And we’ve paid decent cash for both.

Any clown can surely see that our two positions of need are number 6 and number 9. In that order for me.

But are we trying? Half-heartedly for a striker maybe. But for a 6?

Doesn’t f***ing look like it.

If nothing happens tomorrow, I can only conclude we are signing players largely based on financial data, not squad need.

The amount of “churnalism” in football media is extraordinary.

There’s that true story of some 16 year old kids who managed, using Wikipedia alone, to get some random player labelled the Honduran Maradona or something. And he got picked up on that basis. Will try and dig it out…

Aouchiche is an absolute waste of space and Bennette just went to Greece on loan.

Rusyn isn't going to fill that void. Nor is Auochiche and Bennette has gone on loan as obviously not deemed good enough at present.

Bearing in mind Spurs offered him a 5 year deal, he obviously has something about him and perhaps too good an opportunity to miss. They obviously see value.
