Romain Mundle

I’ll caveat the following with stating I’m fully aware the window hasn’t closed yet. I’ll also add this post is grim reading.

If the fans had been asked to do a poll on positions that needed strengthening at the start of Jan then arguably left midfield would have been the last position which would have been mentioned. There’s Clarke and the very promising Watson. We have Benette set to return from his loan in the summer (according to Speakman’s latest bollocks). Now there’s Mundle.
It’s absolutely nailed on that this kid is Clarke’s replacement when he leaves in the summer should we not go up.

I still retain hope of squeaking 6th however, this window has done nothing to strengthen that view and much to weaken it. Not to sign a ready to go striker in preference of two lads who will hopefully be excellent on a year or two is absolutely criminal.

The board have season ticket renewal time around the corner. The club has done very little to move itself forward in the last 12 months and in terms of relationships with the fans, has done much to move itself back.

I anticipate some very worried number crunchers in Black cats house come season ticket renewal deadline date should the club be falling short of a playoff place.

The fans aren’t stupid. JC will be away, DN very likely, maybe Patto too. A massive rebuild could be on and the board have done nothing to suggest money accrued from player sales will be reinvested in the playing staff.

I’m not sure why everybody seems to think the very very short term e.g this season - we are aiming to get promoted. Speakman has already proven to speak shite and when he said play offs isn’t good enough he was just paying lip service to the fans.

It’s pretty clear we should be ready in 2-4 years given the signings we have made. The Championship is going to be a slog, and we don’t seem to have the money to compete with the parachute clubs.

The fans don’t forget quickly. The Mag debacle will prove testimony to that over the coming years.
If Soeakman comes out with ‘the payoffs are not good enough’ and then backs it up with actions which put the club in a position where achieving the playoffs is likely to be a real struggle then he shouldn’t be expecting the support base to believe a word he says in the future.
When the inevitable call to arms comes at ST renewal time he shouldn’t be surprised if not as many buy in due to a perceived lack of ambition.
The fact that the squad on Feb 2nd is likely to be considerably weaker than the squad on Feb 2nd 2023 is not going to go down well.
