Aye he had a brief spell of form at the start of the lockdown season but other than that I thought he was pretty poor when he came back, and was also the absolute polar opposite of what we needed from a central midfielder around that time.

He seemed slow and uninterested imo. I know he had a spell of personal issues which I feel sorry for him for, but I wouldn’t say it was a good return.

Jonny Evans is a bit different though. He was a young, improving player, and there was literally only 6 months between the end of his 1st spell and the start of his 2nd!

It's quite different to someone like Mvila, who left 7 years ago, is now 33 and hasn't had a club since last May. He also has been playing in substandard domestic leagues since he left us, really. It's not easy to gauge where he might be at physically or in terms of declining ability.

He's just after the VISA. Nobody spends six months in the NE and fals in love with the place. His career improved after he left us?

We certainly didn't improve but that's another story.
