If the club access him as fit or readily trainable to that level, why wouldn't we take him?

I agree, he's definitely worth looking at. I just don't get the hyperbole and wild speculation that a 33 year old who has been unemployed for 8 months, and has spent the entire time since he left us, playing in massively inferior divisions to the one we were in, is suddenly going to storm into a top end Championship side and look like peak Yaya Toure on steroids.

Surely you take into account the quality of the player and age if you’re using that comparison of those three. Yann is leagues ahead of the first two and Defoe joined back when he was 38.
