Was literally just about to ask this! At the moment I'm thinking of just taking ££ in cash and changing it there. Probably not the most cost effective but easiest for me probably, plus I'm a bit wary of relying on card over there. Was bad enough in Spain last November. Fully expected everywhere to take card but it was mostly the opposite

Our press did make a fuss about the Indian pitches last time like.
He's got no sense or irony or he's a hypocrite. As he's doing exactly the same thing he's criticising the UK press for.

Well like it or not the pitch is a massive part of the game of cricket and worth discussing. They see it as "whinging" but it's just discussing an aspect of the game for me

I dunno they got labelled cheats last time. Not perhaps explicitly as that by the press but not far off.
This place and twitter was awash with it. I'd rather we be better prepared at playing spin, with better spin bowlers and try win in those conditions, than mention the pitch.
Was the same for both teams last time only Rohit and Pant batted brilliantly throughout series. That was more down to their series win than the spinners.

Am in Goa at the moment. I have a Revolut card. Loads of places take it, cheaper restaurants don't, but then again in cheaper places there's no tax on the bills( 22% alcohol tax in bars). Alcohol is much more expensive in other states.
With Revolut, the State Bank of India ATMs are commission free. I read you can take out a maximum 10,000Rs a time. Did it twice, today, no problem.
Tuk tuks cash obviously. Even put 100Rs on a card in a bakery. As most games (apart from the last), are in big cities, it should be easy to use cards when necessary and cash when not. Modi trying to make it a more cashless society to avoid black money. I read that Indians are only allowed to carry the equivalent of £250 or so in cash. Can't imagine how they could police that.
I changed £20 notes into Rupees at 105 to the £ at a restaurant. 105.5 for £50 notes. Don't know if it would be so easy in somewhere like Rajkot.
Be aware that Rs2,000 notes are obsolete, so don't get fobbed off if you are changing in London.
If you have any, you need to post them to a RBI in a State Capital and then get the money paid into an Indian Bank account.
I'd have £400 in cash, just in case.

I didn't take any cash with me, just got £200 worth of IR out at Delhi airport on my Clarity card. The more upmarket places accept cards but no street traders/taxi drivers etc did. Ended up using a mixture of both. Didn't see any exchange shops, I just got cash from an ATM as and when needed. Places that took cards tended to be a fair bit more expensive than those that didn't as a rule of thumb. The ATM's can be hit and miss, some no problems getting cash (State Bank of India), others okay one time but not the next (HDFC) and some no joy at all (Indian Post Office).
I stayed in four hotels. Two were card only, one was cash only and the other either/or.

That said, after we won the first Test, the Second Test, on the same ground, only a few days later, the wicket was dramatically different.
One of the Tests, we opened the bowling with Root in the second innings. Admittedly, a better spinner would have improved our chances somewhat.

Indeed but they get that right as home team.
Why we don't make wickets more suited to us is beyond me. Well I know the reason it's all about making money, otherwise we'd not play two tests at Lords/Oval every summer.
Bollocks about tradition I'd rather win the Ashes/test matches. We should play an Ashes at the following 5 in 2035 Riverside/Headingley/Trent Bridge/Old Trafford/Edgbaston
I'd say 2027 or 2031 but already locked in, which is f***ing ridiculous to select 8 years in advance.
