Yann M'vila - target or not?

Aye, no denying that. I think Speakman is holding the club together at the minute personally. Certainly papering over a number of cracks.

A couple of years ago our player equalisation was based on the first x Oxford player to call us.
Again, an interesting perspective. I have time for Speakman but many can't abide him.

Helped turn a league 1 side on to a playoff contention side in a couple of years despite incredibly tight purse strings.

Everything hasn’t been great. Some really poor but overall with restraints he’s had I don’t know how anyone can deny he’s been relatively successful so far.

A lot will depend on who is sold and what is brought in to replace them, mind.

They will sell Clarke at some point and potentially Neil and I'd feel sure they are planning for that, whether its developing someone like Watson or buy another youngster with potential.

Don't even think him being unfit would be that big of an issue, even an unfit M'Villa would be twice the player than the likes of Ekwah if he hasn't lost his touch.
you may be right there. If his positioning sense is still there (no reason there shouldn't be) then he'd have younger players to do his running for him.

If they sell Clarke for 20 mill as an example then spend 5+ on a replacement then it will feel like we are moving into a different market. If they sell him and replace him with another kid for next to nowt IE a Ba type then it will be a bit disheartening.

Obviously a higher calibre player will come with a higher wage demand as well so that’s another factor.

We are really short for wingers regardless and Watson isn’t really getting a look in yet so suspect it will be too soon for him.

Neil is the closest we have to a PL player imo. One of the only ones that looked close to being remotely comfortable yesterday tbh. Some tried hard but limitations were pretty obvious.

Still find it so bizzare that he's basically made a come and get me plea and said he's willing to play for fuck all and it seems like we've ignored him.

Considering he is on the dole, and plenty of time on his hands, you would have thought he could have flown over to watch the match at the weekend, he could have had a lift from the airport off Borini for nowt

Can't say for sure but you would imagine we would hear something by now if there was a hint of it happening.
We could have a chat, for example about his demands or his fitness etc. and both could decide not to go forward. We would not hear about that either. I am just tiring of this constant negativity about the club. They have had an utter nightmare in the past month but it doesn't mean everything they do is wrong or that they are trying to fail. We have had this regime here for three seasons and each one has seen an improvement. We may need a tweak now and review as to whether we need more experience but it doesn't mean they haven't done a decent job to date or that they haven't considered M'Villa.
