Yann M'vila - target or not?

That was a strange move by the Club , recruiting Dack. It never fitted into the new way in which we recruit players.

Maybe dacks a good lad ...maybe he's a decent player... but he's had a boatload of injuries and although mvila is older and probably more expensive... I'd take mvila over dack...probably coz he's played more regularly are a reseasobsle level in the last couple of years

Kld was talking with mvila in the summer and he's still a free agent

I know people want a splash of experience but I wouldn't consider myself in that camp, at least not experience for the sake of it. But Yann brings a certain type of experience everyone could without doubt learn from, he was an incredible player who didn't play enough games for France (22) because of perception. He knows the area, the fans and languages, he's a leader and would be able to bring the vast majority of the club together. He'd be our glue.

Going to have to if we want to make sense of our big money Dutch CB.

No fee, a wealth of experience, the type of player we need, seemingly willing.

His legs may or may not be gone but it’d be a really low risk, high reward signing that allows the club to win back some positive PR.

For all those reasons I expect it not to happen

I agree. There is a view on here that the model has strict rules that can never be breached. However, I'd like to think it has some flexibility and maybe needs a bit more. M'Villa sounds a good idea, although Defoe sounded that as well.

I didn't like the Defoe stuff, thought it was a bad idea although glad most were happy. This would be a different kettle imo.

Well the French boy has an extra half mil that he didn’t have yesterday morning, could he let us know if that might be used to bring in Yann? (Or similar). The youngen has completely embarrassed us, he could at least let us know where the money is going to be spent.

I think the issue with bringing a player like Yann in is speakman, hes not going to want to be overshadowed by anyone.

I believe Speakman feels hes the most important person at the club, I think the likes of Yann threatens his leadership.
Its starting to become clear that Mowbray has told them to stick it rather then be sacked, in the same way Neil did.

Have you met him like ? You seem to know him well. Or is this a made up theory ?

On a day to day week to week basis when you consider the way the club is structured, who is the most important?

Could equally say we had our fingers burned by signing some fairly poor young players who contributed nowt and moved on.

M’Vila is about 4 year younger than Defoe was when we brought him back. He was playing in a European top flight last season regularly, and European football.

Defoe also basically paid for himself that time. It didn’t work out (mainly because Defoe chucked the towel in) but the increase in revenue for that one Doncaster match would have paid what he earned anyway
