O'Nien at CB

Try telling people who claim Jeff Whitley as being one of the worst central midfielders they've ever seen that.

If we want promoting we should be looking to improve on him. He's not the only reason we are a near playoffs/just outside team but he's certainly part of it. The rest of our defenders look good enough to be up near the top, be nice if we had fullbacks who stayed fit mind
Nah, that was Tommy Miller, never saw him mind, we signed him he scored against the Boro, and then vanished, some say he got lost on in the smog and hasn't been seen in person in years.

You can’t knock his passing ability from the position, not my highest priority in a centre back though.
I think he is better than he gets credit for in open play, but is at liability defending set pieces. He just can’t keep his hands to himself and, what’s worst, he repeatedly gives the referee a penalty decision to make. Granted they’re rarely given, but the question is always there. It was a baffling decision to have him marking Cooper today

Edit* Apart from that 92nd minute free kick 🤦‍♂️

It's just people giving their opinions. I can see both sides of the argument. I think if we really want to push on he's one we have to replace
He's pretty average
He's not that good.

Any other player, who had given away as many goals, would have been binned ages ago.

An absolute liability at centre half. How Mowbray as an ex centre half himself doesn't see this is ridiculous.

The coaching towards Clarke, Roberts and Ekwah, regarding kicking a ball with both feet, is again ridiculous.

At one point today he was on the left wing trying to tackle their right winger, ended up in no man's land, the ball got through, we were sitting ducks. He causes problems for himself and the team when he goes walkabout.

Drifts towards the ball every time, leaving the person he's marking.

It's beyond a joke and must have cost us at least seven goals this season.

Players being class with both feet is pretty irrelevant to be honest, Clarke and Roberts both can and do cross with both feet. There's bigger issues.

It's more the fact he just can't defend to be honest.

Just like Ballard went walk about for the goal, made a rash challenge again and we concede. Nobody seems to mention that though.

Think Ballard can afford one bad game. He's been nothing but a resounding success at CB since he joined.

Aye Ballard shouldn't have commited to the challenge near the half way line. But it doesn't excuse O Nien being nowhere near the striker for the cross in.

The way we're conceding is a huge issue regardless of us being the 5th best defensively. We can't handle crosses at all.
