VARguments

Makes you laugh.
how many incompetent refs have we had in the last few years who’ve been begging for VAR?

You can’t win.

Problem is it calls into question the integrity of the game in the so called "best league in the world".

Linesman makes a bad offside call, most fans will accept that its human error and probably over a season it might even out.

Bring in VAR and the expectation from fans is that it will always be right. That's why it exists.

So when it's wrong, people will ask questions. It only takes one team to benefit from these decisions more than most and there will be open talk of corruption.

At the end of the season, those points will have an impact on someone's league position. If a similar incident happens again to Spurs or Liverpool, doubly so. Given than sport betting scandals aren't unheard of there will be mutterings.

Maybe if in cases of VAR error this obvious, the game had to be replayed... we might see some change. But it won't happen, and the integrity of the sport suffers.

It'd help if they were watching the game too. Seems the berks upstairs weren't and the dozy fuckers thought he'd been given onside. Did their quick check and said they agreed with decision (not realising he'd been given offside)
I'm still very dubious about the excuse tbh, no lines were shown on the screen and in the little box at the top of the screen it said 'offside', why would it say that if he was onside? Is that a TV director graphic or a VAR graphic??

Getting to the point where it’s got to be questioned if it’s doing any good for the game, losing the spontaneous celebrations is enough to sack it off for me but when they consistently getting it wrong defeats the object of it
Refs don't want var to work, they are so arrogant they don't like their decisions being questioned.
It's being done deliberately so eventually fan pressure gets it abandoned

No lines were needed because it was clearly onside even to the naked eye.

The Premiership doing what it does best. Shooting itself in the foot with pointless gimmicks to make it look more appealing, high profile and exciting to watch and to market to its PR people.

Meanwhile over in the Championship where the real football players play the real football fans are pissing ourselves laughing 😂

We’ve seen with handball decisions past few weeks

Berge v Forest
Wolves lad v Luton
Shirley from Eastenders v Sheff Utd

That the technology isn’t the problem It’s the clowns looking at these things and getting basic things badly wrong
WTF

I think the whole offside issue needs changing to be honest. I mean you can have literally have your arms outstretched and ahas the appearance of offside while the rest of your body is miles on in comparison to the defending player. I’ve always thought with offside make one part of the body, being your head as the only focal point and have offsides given there, no debate.

All the officials want investigating over that shambles tonight
The quality of official hired is just too low.
They were making daft decisions so the game brought in VAR to help. The same folk are simply not bright enough to use the equipment. Otherwise the decisions would be correct. VAR works when used correctly. This mob, from Webb down, are just too thick to use the equipment. Any other walk of life they would simply be fired and replaced. They will apologise. Roll out the same shit. Reset. Repeat. A business worth 10’s of billions and results depend upon second rate (probably being kind) officials. 🙁

Wow, so if this is what happened why couldn't he quickly intervene when he realised what happened?

Hang on…..when a goal is checked for ‘offside’ doesn’t it come up on the screen (presumably from VAR) that the goal is “disallowed” for “Offside”
Surely if VAR thought that it was onside then they wouldn’t send that graphic to the screen.

I certainly think it's been proven now that we need more boffin types who can work and use the equipment and technology in the VAR control room rather than referees, leave them to do the on field stuff and fully competent nerds to the VAR stuff, they will probably get involved a lot less too, there's too much interference and re reffing incidents which wouldn't happen if non referees were in the control room, it needs simplifying.

Fine as it is. Any particular of the body that can be used to score a goal. No debate. In your example they'd not draw the line where the hand is so appearance means nothing.

If its just correctly its black and white. Being used correctly is the stumbling block.
