Interesting video on DH Gate, Ali Express football shirts and forged tops in general

The club have forced fans down this road when it comes to SAFC shirts.

Total lack of stock/sizes and a shop which opens less than a Christmas pop-up store.

There was a huge amount of fans on here who wanted to purchase the shirts but there was no availability to do so. They then went down the DH Gate (or similar) route.

I’m one of these. My son’s birthday is in March and there was no stock last time. I’m assuming will be the same for the next

The designer picking the wrong Brazil shirt, and the presenter bloke thinking the counterfeits cost £30 doesn’t really help their argument. “If this is £30 I’d much rather pay an extra 15 quid for the proper badge” etc. The issue is that the price difference is £40 up to £60. If the difference was £15 most people would be buying the genuine ones.

If the only way you can spot the fake Brazil shirt is by looking at the care label, would you really want to pay an extra £60 for a real one!

Bear in mind, that some fans would like to buy more than the home top but given the prices, can't or won't. There are some that do and they will buy all 3 tops but what about bairns wanting to be kitted out along with some other stuff, such as training clobber.

What would be really interesting is someone doing something like what they've done with game prices, regarding a pie, pint & programme for clubs before and published in mainstream media. Go to every club and see how much it would cost to by the 3 full kits in an adult size (maybe just top and shorts) and also the 3 variations in a kids size and maybe a full kit of training clobber (possibly this separate as do the overall cost of a parent and kid getting kitted out).

:edit: this is similar to what I've seen before and it's the Triple P Index which is the pie, pint and programme costs.

I bet it's well into the £100's for some clubs yet to buy the 'fake' versions would save an absolute fortune, not just the £15 one of them mentions in the video. That's why you see many comments about people now buying kids stuff elsewhere as not all fans can afford to pull out for this top, that top for them and the bairn(s) gear also. A parent and child could either buy 2 legit tops or buy 2 fakes and possibly more gear, maybe still for less than 2 legit so you can see why people do it.

We'd be above Fulham for tickets there, paid 105 for 3 adults for Sunday and one of them was me mar who's in her 80s
 
For years football clubs and the football industry in general has been taking advantage of football fans and ripping them off at every opportunity. Match tickets, replica kits, tv packages, food and drink on a matchday are all over-priced, some of it shockingly over-priced. Football clubs know however, due to the loyalty and passion of fans, that the vast majority will pay it. They’ve got a captive audience - fans are forced to pay it as there’s (up until recently) no other option other than go without.

Therefore I’ve got no qualms whatsoever about paying for pirate TV packages, fake kits, etc. For me it’s the fans way of getting their own back after years of being exploited by the industry. Maybe if the real things weren’t so over-priced in the first place fans wouldn’t have had to resort to looking for imitations. Football only has itself to blame.
 
I've just got our 11 year old about 8 random clubs' shirts for 115 quid. For 'authentic' shirts I couldn't have gotten 2 tops as he's tall enough to need small mens kits. All really good quality and put next to the proper ones I couldn't tell the difference.

We always get him the authentic Sunderland kit to put back into the club (whatever their margin is on them anyway) but last year we didn't get our 4 year old one from the club as it was an Avec rip off.

This year we got him home and away full kits as he's XS junior to wear at his footy sessions and when he's at the match. It was a ridiculous price even with the season ticket reduction. A lot of big clubs using Nike cap their full kids' kits at about 55 quid for the lot together, which is still really high but not as high as we do because we sell everything separately.

Not taking moral lectures from people on using DHgate when a shitload of the main manufacturers use sweatshop-type labour and continue their profit-gouging and rip off ordinary fans.

I'm hoping they get the shirt issue sorted before the opener. It'd be horrific having to watch Alisha Lehmann in that wet top. My heart goes out to them
 
Dhgate should only be used for kids kits imo. I buy my lads from there all the time..always buy the Sunderland kits from the club though for him.

Got him Liverpool and Man Utds away kit from DHGate and they're fine
 
Am I getting this right, the sites have multiple different fakes out there, rather than different people selling the same ones? If so, how do you know what you'll get?

Yes there's loads of sellers selling different ones and more often than not they don't last long (they disappear and probably come back under a different name).I used to check out the reviews that have photos then go with that seller. They touched on it on the video the early ones are usually the worst but get better over time.

I watched some of it this morning and saw that bit. I'm not one to use the modern acronym "LOL", but.......LOL. Pretentious as owt him.
 
When Sunderland shirts are a standard Nike template that's had no specific design effort put into it then I can see why people baulk at the exorbitant price

Can’t blame people for doing it. Especially with bairns kits. It’s the same argument with IPTV. Price of watching and following football is astronomical.

Ticket prices, match day concessions, shirts and other merchandise, 4 different broadcasters showing Prem games now?

For years now your average match going supporter has been getting shafted. I’ve a mate who’s a Mag, been going all his life, home and away who said the following the other day regarding supporters.

‘The club don’t want season ticket holders, they want day trippers who buy a hot dog, programme and a shirt’

£60 for an identikit Avec effort with some iron ons?
