Interesting video on DH Gate, Ali Express football shirts and forged tops in general

Yeah, it was me who first got in touch with Gunn Retro a few years ago about creating the Patrick kits, he told me all about the lad in the video
The bloke sat in the middle?

I'm sure the one in the left, if he worked for nike when he says he did, must have been based at Doxy when their HQ was there. I used to cut through their car park from the bus stop to the shop on a morning when I worked at Barclays, and they'd have all the new kits hanging up in the offices. Remember seeing the arsenal one with the white patch across the shoulder blades.

Could tell last season when the DHGate consignment had come in (not just coz I'd got one) - some of the worse ones had the stripes completely off centre and the collar completely wrong. I did it in 21-22 and the kits were absolutely spot on, 22-23 wasn't so good and the sizes were well off, so never actually worn it.

How do those that sell 'authentic' football shirts (ie. , etc.) know they're authentic when you can get copies that look the real deal?

I've bought from both of them in the past and I'm fairly positive what I bought was the real deal - but is there still a risk?

Could they potentially be selling these fake shirts at a much higher price due to not knowing if they're fake or not?

I always get the Sunderland ones from the official store for my daughter but anything else, DHGate. She wanted an Arsenal one with Odegaard on as well this season so got her it for under 20 quid.

Not a chance I’m paying nearing £100 for another club’s kit that she’ll barely wear.

If you work in that industry (reselling) you will know the stuff, I haven't watched the video but somebody mentioned the care label in the brazil shirt being the reason you can tell its fake, I'd guess 99% of fakes will be able to be caught by the average football fan. The remaining 1% will be again 99% easy for anyone who is in contact with retro shirts every day, the material, the font/printing and the sizes, then you have the 1% of the 1% that will be a rare shirt like a Nigeria from 56 or something where it will just be down to the persons word and their 'name' in the sector. Its the same with trainers and even more so in art, there will be some rare items that you just have to believe experts on, if its costing thousands you just get a few experts to comment.

Yeah the lad in the middle does the dirty work for clubs who have gear sold on the black market

Mine and the bairns DH Gate strips just arrived today, purchased 3rd Sept so not too long a wait. I ordered XL but its more medium to large. Excellent copy/quality.

The bairns at school so hasn't tried his yet....

The club have forced fans down this road when it comes to SAFC shirts.

Total lack of stock/sizes and a shop which opens less than a Christmas pop-up store.

There was a huge amount of fans on here who wanted to purchase the shirts but there was no availability to do so. They then went down the DH Gate (or similar) route.
Interesting thing on this weeks price of football podcast when you’re talking about stocks and about how companies such as Nike and adidas will prioritise the big clubs as apposed to us mere mortal clubs when it comes to shirts. That they would sacrifice us to ensure a bigger club wouldn’t go short for their next game
