Interesting video on DH Gate, Ali Express football shirts and forged tops in general

My daughter wanted the away kit because it’s pink. She has no interest in football, for £13 the one I got her is absolutely spot on.
I got my daughter that one aswell and hers is spot on too, in fact every shirt I have bought from there has been great. I bought her two 1994 England shirts for only £5.06 each and they are brilliant quality.
My daughter is disabled and sometimes wears them to go to her day centre where they do painting, cooking etc, and cos they cost a tenner or less I don't worry about them getting ruined. I'd never dare let her wear them if they had cost me over £50 each.

I’ve bought kits from there since our final Adidas one (because of the sponsor ironed on top of Betdaq) and, apart from our first year Nike ones where the sponsor and badge peeled off quite quickly (but the same happened with the “real ones”), they’ve all been excellent.

Also got an England Euro 96, England 2019 Rugby WC and Tunisia 3rd shirt (I drew them in the WC sweepy with my mates, the shirt got stuck at Heathrow for a month and was delivered the day after they were knocked out 😂 )from there and all are great. The Euro 96 is outstanding quality, could easily pass for a genuine one.

TBH they aren’t losing any sales from me because previously I would only buy kits at the end of the season when they were reduced to £15 in the sale. If the club get their finger out and have the “Ready to Go” shirts available for sale I’ll buy one.

They aren't losing sales from me either as I just didn't bother buying them.
You can buy the yellow third shirt brand new for £11 online but then they add £44 onto the price just for adding an ironed on sponsor and SAFC badge. It's a complete rip off, no the wonder people use dhgate. Especially with the price of everything else these days aswell.

I paid £10 in Turkey for the away one. Not perfect but does her for her football.
I've ordered a few from DHGate in the past for her and been impressed with the quality. It is pot luck though.

The prices and regularity of the design change is disgusting really. I've no qualms about the club losing out here. Football stinks.

Not the same factory but similar. They will still be made by some Asian, less than minimum wage sweatshop
The illegal ones do get raided occasionally as do the market stalls. The market stalls usually hide them nearby for a few days but a quick call and they'll be brought to the stall if it's a tourist buying/wanting a geek.

£14 or £60
Funny as owt when the knacker on the left gets the fake Brazil shirt wrong just after 10 mins with his arrogant "Straight off, that's original, Straight off, yep, definitely" and even when other bloke says it's not, he looks at again and says "Nah, I think that's the original, definitely". They start picking up small details on other shirts that the average fan won't and shows that often the difference is not really noticeable at times, but honestly who gives a fuck about that when you get something cheap?

I know they went on about tax/costs etc but they didn't mention the huge mark up also puts people off? Proof of this is the fact you can often buy exactly the same stuff without the club badge for a lot less from legitimate sellers. That along with clubs using the same templates also. They also waffle on about the creativity, design and work that goes into them. Again this is shite as they could just as easily create simpler replica tops and sell boat loads at £30 but they'd rather use this a reason to justify the mark up.

It's not just the club kit of course as there's a shit loads of other club branded gear they can sell. Look at the mark SAFC had on that £116 gillet just by hoying an old SAFC badge on the basic Nike version. This is why Adidas pay a shit load to top teams such as Man Utd as their range is massive, which compared to ours is the other end of the scale. They need to stop paying players 80% of their revenue and ripping off fans with gear and tickets etc but sadly they won't, they'll just take the piss as they know some people will still pay. Simple supply and demand given they're just a business at the end of the day.

Finally got around to watching the video.

The designer picking the wrong Brazil shirt, and the presenter bloke thinking the counterfeits cost £30 doesn’t really help their argument. “If this is £30 I’d much rather pay an extra 15 quid for the proper badge” etc. The issue is that the price difference is £40 up to £60. If the difference was £15 most people would be buying the genuine ones.

If the only way you can spot the fake Brazil shirt is by looking at the care label, would you really want to pay an extra £60 for a real one!

DHgate don't make forgeries. They are made in the same factories and are the same shirts as the ones being sold for £100 in club shops all over the country.

Nah, that’s rubbish. It’s a marketplace with over 2 million sellers on it.

For all we know there might be some sellers who do sell shirts from the same factory but there will be plenty of fakes (realistically the majority of them)

The main differences between this season's home shirt from the club shop and the DH Gate version are the material and as always, the badge. DH Gate always struggle like fuck with the Sunderland badge weirdly

Aye, all the video does is further highlight when people are buying shirts from these sites in question.

When a so-called expert can't even tell the difference and when they are also greatly exaggerating the price of a "fake", it says all you need to know.
