Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

The club have offered what they think is fair to stewart I assume and he thinks it’s not good enough. No hard feelings that’s just business.
Whether saints want to buy him before he’s back from injury and up and running is anyones guess as its a risk for them. It’s a risk for Stewart if he comes back and breaks down again with only 9 months left on his contract too.
may well be this drags on till January and if Stewart gets back to fitness it could well be the club takes what they can or Stewart just winds down his contract and leaves in the summer for free.

either way we need at least one body in this window for the striker role regardless if he stays or goes to cover any further potential injuries.

im guessing we will get a striker in on loan before the window shuts, the club maybe have one lined up but are waiting on the Stewart situation to see whether we can buy one instead of loaning….but we do need someone in as there’s no guarantee Stewart if he stays will be upto speed straight away

we will know in a couple of days which way all this unfolds anyway so not even gonna stress about it now and wait till the window closes
If they’re desperate for a striker they’ll pay 10 but we still need a replacement.

Exactly so pointless selling him then!

May as well sack off the season otherwise! 🙄

Nonsense.

Speakman confirmed publicly that the aim is to move forward this season.

We finished sixth last year, so he obviously thinks that the decisions he makes will get us to fifth or better.

So we can all look forward to that, and he should be judged accordingly.

If we got £8m for him I’d not have an issue with selling if he doesn’t look like agreeing a new deal.

If we sell and don’t have a replacement lined up straight away then the club deserve any shit they get.

It's the exact same posters

There’s probably a couple who do it aye. There’s one saying Southampton’s business is a failure because they buy young players and sell them for a profit whilst saying ours is great because we do the same.

This place isn’t a hive mind though so any given subject is going to have different opinions.

As it stands though the subject matter is barely relevant anymore as a lot of people have drawn a line in the sand and won’t change their view point on anything.

We had people earlier arguing over a Stewart penalty save and rebound to support their already ingrained mindset.

All brinkmanship, they maybe desperate but are they 10m desperate…window closes then it’s derisory offer in January or stewart sits tight and risks it till summer for a better payday.

Stewart will see Southampton as his best chance to play in the Premiership next season. I don't think he'll sign whatever the club put infront of him.

Hopefully get as close to 10m as possible and move on.

It’s the moving on part that worries me!

Got absolutely zero confidence in this lot being able and even willing to reinvest all of the money in a proven direct replacement! 🙄

Or they sign someone else instead and he’s left on fuck all and signs. Stay strong unless we have a quality player at a good rate lined up

Think we all know Stewart isn’t signing a new contract now, so it’s either sell for what we can get or keep him for the year and hope he comes back on fire… and even if we got 10m I can’t see us stumping up anywhere near that for a replacement and the inevitable higher wages that will come with it

Moving forward?!! After this shitshow of a summer window?!!

As I have stated previously that comment was purely to boost season ticket sales imo! Either that or he’s deluded if he thinks we will compete for top 6 after weakening or squad! 🙄
