I think it was a great incentive by Durham to let people in free and if they had big crowd that’s fantastic.Not so sure what * sell out"_means in Hundred parlance after witnessing Headingley's supposed "sell out". We need to know the demographics of the crowd to be able to judge whether such healthy crowds are achieving the aim of reaching a wider audience. In an area such as St John's Wood I suspect it consists of mainly white middle class. Preaching to the converted. I think the much larger than normal turn out for Durham on Friday is far more likely to have reached a more diversive crowd and therefore being far more worthy of comment.

The more people watching cricket the better doesn’t have to be a competition.
Personally the more people watching cricket especially with all modern day distractions is a very good thing imo
