I've just had 5live sports extra on the radio and what naffs me off more than anything is the constant lies and hyperbole about the hundred.
Some woman on (not a clue who it was) saying that the Hundred has meant that many of the players are now household names. Speaking almost as much shite as Rees Mogg.
Well there are 18 clubs, with (at least) 18 grounds and 18 playing staffs who are supplying 8 franchises with contracted players …..and The 100 is only played at 8 venues. No but there are 44 traditional counties in England and Wales. 18 have a first clsss and Blast gig. Eight get to host the you know what. Each number is an arbitrary minority of the total. No magic in the 18. It wasn’t “and the Lord said unto Moses, and another thing, eighteen first class counties shalt thou have”. You pick a number that works. And I’m not convinced that number is 18 any more.
Interesting from the comments that Notts had higher attendances for 3 of their 7 Blast home games and that’s without adding the two other counties that the 16.4 team apparently includes…You must be logged on to see media items
If the weather continues all week like it has today rhe ECB will be bricking it.
Haha. You think the ashes would have the same pull if it was on a yearly basis? Regardless, I believe a very small margin of those watching the ashes are new to cricket, the hundred is however will be seen by many more with no experience of cricket. Not everyone wants to watch red ball, especially when new to the sport
aye its accessible but theres sod all there, Chester le street the town itself is a bit of a shithole nowadays
Im Assuming that wasn’t with any kids in tow then, so you either don’t have any or they are old enough to leave, then I’d suggest the hundred isn’t really aimed at you anyway,I would for Durham no problem. I sat around hours on Thursday and Friday and didn't see a ball bowled as well as travel about 170 miles for the pleasure
Would you have hung around all day too if you’d turned up at 11am?
The international side is an extension of the county game, without the county game there is no international team.Is it not already on life support, that life support being handouts from the ECB, without short format cricket and TV money most would be long gone
It’s true men’s crowd nothing special there. 8800 is a canny crowd for a women’s game though. They’d not have got that with the lip service the counties paid in the past. You can see why they see it as a positive.

So lets stop calling them handouts and start calling them what they are: Payments for developing the players and maintaining the grounds which the international sides need to survive.
Bankrupting the game and marginalising more than half the teams for this farcical power grab needs to be stopped as soon as possible.
FTECB and FT16.4.
Rossington could have knacked Andre The Giant
A lovely sunny evening at the cricket
The conversation was about the other test grounds being in city’sHow is that relevant to anything?
When he came out, i thought some guy ran on the pitch in full gearRossington could have knacked Andre The Giant
Stop sucking every penny out of the game and into this farce (What are we up to now, £50m? £75m?) then we'll stop. Promise.Im Assuming that wasn’t with any kids in tow then, so you either don’t have any or they are old enough to leave, then I’d suggest the hundred isn’t really aimed at you anyway,
but not sure why you can’t let those who do enjoy it do so in peace without the constant comments, the laughing at games being called off is pathetic, there will be kids who will have been looking forward to going to this for weeks
