5th test the oval

If you are playing a 5 day test, know that rain is likely to curtail a chunk of it, you only need to draw to retain the urn, you play naturally more cautiously which is what Australia did and nearly got undone. England did great to almost force a result but you cant go 2-0 down to the number 1 side around and expect to win 3-2, very rarely happens. England undoing has been by and large of their own doing

Don't buy into the media who are giving Stokes an easy ride thus far. If he had less credit in the bank he would be getting a lot of stick as Australia have been there for the taking from ball one of the series which Crawley smote through cover. England have played a mix of exhilarating and dumb cricket in the series and have fallen short
Well England would have certainly won the fourth test but for rain (even you have to admit that) which would have made the score 2-2 and this match could go either way, so it proves 3-2 was achievable.

It has very rarely happened in the past I agree and rain has meant draws in the past in this country.

But this England side as opposed to in the past with their approach takes draws out of the equation 99% of the time, meaning it is more likely than ever before to get 3-2, 4-1 and 5-0 in a series.

This is because even if it rains as it did at Leeds you still get a result and even if a whole day rained off at Manchester we would still have got a result.

It is extremely rare even in England to get nearly two full days off for rain, so with this new approach I do disagree draws always likely in England because of the rain.

England play a high risk strategy cricket that will lose your sone games but undoubtedly will also win your more games as proven in the past year or so.

There is absolutely no doubt you have a point where England could have played smarter cricket at times nobody would disagree with that.

But there has been absolutely nothing between the sides in this series and whatever the result, both deserve credit for a brilliant series that I believe deserves to be shared based of the play over the series.

There has been times where England have been absolutely brilliant and times they have made some granted bad decisions

However the posts on here over the series including mostly yours have been negative and jumping all over their mistakes, but hardly any balance and praise when they have played some brilliant cricket.

Stokes quite rightly gets loads of praise because he has been part of a team that has completely and utterly transformed us from no hopers to a great win percentage playing brilliant and revolutionary cricket that is a joy to watch.

Yes at times during this series mistakes have been made, you can jump all over them, I prefer to look at the bigger picture of what this team is doing for English cricket and test cricket which is f***ing great imo

Essex boy is a striker, but I don't recall his constant bitching at England on previous series.
Are you new on this part of the forum, are have you just become miserable since bazball arrived?

Was a cricket forum regular a few years back, must’ve had some time out.

Lucky as in losing every toss of the series until this test you mean? Lucky as in approaching the first test match sharp unlike England who were playing golf and a county 2nd XI? Lucky as in losing their no.1 bowler in the second test?

What a load of drivel
If this ends 2-2 it’s a pretty fair reflection imo. Too much has been made of the toss. They won this one and we are ahead in the game. The toss at Manchester was barely worth winning and Headingley was a toss was where Cummins admitted it saved him a headache. It was a pitch that stayed pretty much the same from beginning to end and the scored reflected that.
