4th test Manchester

Surely it was the team that we took to Australia in 2010/11 that was the golden generation?

Wallopped them 3-1 and a year or two later gubbed them again.
Yes a more polished side definitely, Cook, Strauss and Broad established, Trott in form, Flintoff gone by then. Not facing McGrath and Warne by that time either though.

We had come to expect England to be good by 2010 but 2005 was just made of pure grit and spirit, and the pattern and competitiveness made for a series that was pure theatre.
Who is the Aussie commentator during the 2005 series?
I think that's Greg Blewett

Stupidly inflexible still test cricket. Could easily start these games earlier than 11am and without the need to go off for lunch 2 hours later. Could also easily play later than 6.30/ 7 o’clock

Cheers mate. Couldn’t work it out.
Maybe we declared a little too late? Probably wouldn’t have made a difference mind.

It's gutting for England like as they've absolutely battered Australia this test. Completely outplayed them . There's not been a single test this series where Australia have outplayed us, yet they're going to retain the ashes.
The difference has been that Australia haven't chucked any of their innings away, whereas England have, Lords in particular

I agree it’s a very frustrating, however probably not the time for this conversation but it shows what a really good side we have now.

18 months ago we were a laughing stock, now we going toe to toe with the best side in the world, and not only that have absolutely destroyed them this test wherever the result now.

And this series could gone have either way brilliant series, terrible way to finish

this side has made test cricket brilliant to watch and it’s filtering down to county championship to provide better and more entertainment all round.

English test cricket in a good place, and put that with the fact we T20 and 50 over world champions means great to watch winning and entertaining cricket in this country.

No 1 in the world, beat a superb India as well

Although if you warch the documentary about the side, The Edge, a lot of the players not sure what they sacrificed for it in terms of mental health was worth it

Might watch that later, don’t think I’ve seen it. Is it sky sports produced?
