Clarke himself is extremely happy at Sunderland, as confirmed this week by agent Ian Harte, although he did concede he did not know what the summer will hold for the player.

“Jack loves it at Sunderland and he’s got three years [of his contract] left,” . “Of course I can’t control what other clubs are going to do. If other clubs contact Sunderland that’s unfortunately out of my control.

We were in L1 and loaned him for a year. In that year we got promoted, unless i've got my years wrong. This is Jack's third year with us. When we signed him it was based on L1 data. I doubt we agreed over 2m for him.addons might double that amount but I seriously doubt it. sell on clause would be 20% maybe?

Some of the number speople are coming up with on here are laughable. One year on loan to us would have been cheap. He signed based on that and possibly a good future. there's no way Spurs would expect big money on Jack Clarke!

His value has gone up no doubt. Anyway none of us now really. Club must be well happy with finances on it, Cirkin too probably.

Tottenham paid 10m for him when he had barely played. Why would he be worth less money after a very successful season in the second tier?

Landscape has changed in the championship. Potential may have been perceived somewhat differently. Wages and squad status will be very different.

Not saying the value is correct, more so that his value from last season is far more relevant to what it was when spurs bought him.

Same as city purchasing Roberts value bares no relevance on his value now.

Missed this bit:

“I think every player, no matter what league you’re in, has a price, and no matter what club you’re at, if a club is happy with it, they’ll take it.”

I think we paid spurs
£4 million with £6 million add ons so total £10 million. Spurs have a 30% sell on
There was a hell of a lot of £10m banded about. Must have been a lot of if’s n but’s but said Levy wouldn’t make a big loss on him….also must be on canny wages already…doubt he would have came here on a lot less than spurs.

Someone said Clarke was on £17k a week

Because they think we are desperate or skint or both. Their board Definately do. Most of the bids for players reported are on the cheap. Fee for the heMillwall lad (we won’t pay that) Tella. We won’t pay that. The keeper. We won’t pay that. Not even sure they’ll pay that big in wages tbf..

Yeah. Wouldn’t be surprised. What would he get at Burnley? £40k with a guaranteed huge fall off if they go down.

You've missed the part where he's made sure other teams remember he has a price...

I think every player, no matter what league you’re in, has a price and no matter what club you’re at if a club is happy with it they’ll take it.

Absolutely no chance we paid Spurs up to a potential £10m for him.

His stock fell dramatically when there. 3 years of average loan spells, including, arguably, the one with us in League One. Whilst you could see the potential in him, he didn’t exactly stand out at that level like you might have expected him to.

He had an excellent season last year, but potential buyers will probably factor in the above in what they’re willing to pay for him.

It’s a not too dissimilar scenario with Roberts.

Mike Tresor seems to be the alternative to Clarke for Burnley mind. Hopefully they come out and announce they’ve signed him instead

My only worry is 3 bids and the last one is £9m? I just hope we haven't given them an indication they aren't far off the valuation

Stoke sold a CB to Leicester for £20 million. So that's the top end for a championship player

Why wouldn’t we? There’s bound to be sell on clauses and money owed on the deal already. Not difficult to see it would hit those margins.

Well its quite a lot of assumptions to suggest something is easily forseen.

Either way, if we did owe Spurs 7m, it would mean we would have pocketed what, 15m? That comes with the territory when getting deals done i guess, can't have it both ways.

Anything north of 20 and Clarke has to start asking himself questions imo there.
