Bid rejected for Clarke

His agent is Ian harte who seemingly has a good relationship with the club. Sure he represents several of the signings we've made.

Just checked and he represents 5 sunderland players. I can't see him playing funny buggers tbh.
Who are his players?

It's his job TBF, he will be smoking out the interest to either get him a move or get as big a contract he can get out of us.

Not necessarily. Harte is one of the Irish players that had that solicitor who wasn't a twat as his agent when he started as a player so he knows how reputable agents can behave as well

Rangers!...They very nearly ruined Amad's career, and a player like Clarke is supposed to go there????.....get f#cked man!! 🤣🤣🤣

You don't spend the money on one replacement. You improve the squad with 3 or 4 quality players

That is basically how this model works. Sell players for your valuation of them and use the money to build/improve the squad not just replace them. Brentford and Brighton are currently doing this exceptionally.

Theyre actively pushing mac Allister and caicedo out

Interesting summer really. We've put a lot of eggs in the youth basket so to speak. Brentford started with some youth years ago as they got rid of their academy and siphoned off those who had been released or unable to break through elsewhere (iirc I saw a documentary with it mentioned by their chairman where he was questioned about how ethical it was not having an academy and asked the question how ethical it was taking along young footballers to 21/22 who were never going to make it just to make up numbers).

But they quickly stepped it up with players under 25 and the fees they paid and not before long they were shelling out bigger fees and scouting from allover. They didn't really sell a lot either.

We've started out adding a few older players and then invested time in a shed load of youth. If we sell straight away - are we going to repeat that or are we going to step it up? If we're going down the route of more youth then how long is the fanbase going to buy into it, as I think many expect progress again this season where unless there's major investment I think we may be lucky to get in the play offs again.

Whatever happens I think intentions will be made a bit clearer this summer.

That was how Brentford did things. I think Tranmere have done things similarly (with a bit less success) - they're never going to attract the best players in the northwest but may be a good option for younger players who haven't quite made it elsewhere. We're combining a youth policy with younger players from other clubs, astute (hopefully) signings from overseas and the occasional bargain older player. It's gone well so far but will it scale up more?

As you say, this summer will show a lot. Hopefully, if we are selling, we wait until late in the transfer window.

Yeah. I mean I'm happy with it (could have been a little more flexible in January with a striker maybe) but curious as to how they'll manage replacing those like Clarke attracting interest at the same time they're probably looking at strikers, Stewarts contract, Evans' age/injuries having lost Amad and haven't yet really integrated Lihadji/ Bennette yet.

There's a lot of promise in the squad, but so many of the promising ones had decent chunks out with injury last season. Lads who I thought may be moved aside like Onien, Gooch and even Pritchard (Embleton but injured) would largely still be integral squad members when fit.
When we sold Pickford we spent none of it, it all went towards debts accrued by overpaying shite players.

Come on many have tried to forget the 500k we spent on Steele, 600k on Vaughan, but I'm not letting you forget it that easily 😵‍💫

Plus about 275k on McGeady, which was money well spent.
