Goodfellas

As far back as I can remember I wanted to be a gangster
I was sure it was “wise guy” not “gangster” but you are right. It was indeed gangster.
Am I right in thinking none of the three main characters were made guys?
Yup. Joe Pesci’s character was tricked into thinking he was getting made but got whacked instead. For killing the guy in the bar who insulted him.

he did nothing wrong....very misunderstood was Tommy
Whacked a ‘made’ man.
But the fella got his revenge in ‘Casino’ by beating Pesci and their kid within an inch of his life, stripping him down to his jockey Y fronts and burying him still breathing in a corn field.

I always think of some random rave song that uses the sample 'as far back as I can remember I wanted to be A MOTHERFUCKIN HUSTLER' then the beat kicks off

Aye, only Tommy could be made but that was never going to happen with him being too much of a loose cannon. Michael Franzese ex Colombo capo does excellent podcasts on YouTube, and he reckons Henry wasn’t as big or important in real life as Goodfellas makes out. Although he does say it’s a fairly accurate portrayal and one of the best mob films.

I’m a bit of an Italian American mafia encyclopaedia having read and watched loads about it, and supposedly Tommy (actual real name Tommy DeSimone) was even far worse and more of a psycho in real life than the film portrayed him to be. Which is saying something!

Yep. He was also a total liability.

Plenty of other mobsters have killed made men and been given a pass. The bosses wanted to send a message with DeSimone.

The mental thing is, guys like Roy DeMeo make DeSimone look like a nice bloke 😂😂😂
