Without doubt you where the first on here to not be happy with the coach and quite rightly made your views known at the members meeting. I thought you where being a little unfair but it looks like you where right and he had out stayed his welcome and it wasn't a happy camp.
 

A great win for Durham. Sowter was excellent but Clarkie was just brilliant. Rode his luck but thats the way it goes if you're hitting a T20 ton inside 14 overs. Hopefully we can kick on and win this competition. Red ball is far more important, and promotion to Division 1 is essential, but we have never won the T20 so it would be great to win it and then we have won the lot. Quite a few other Counties can't say the same thing, ignoring the ones we've already passed.
 
Just thinking back, one of the best things tonight was the plans they had for bowling first. Rotating the ends and three pretty decent spin options

I thought Raine was steady as well, with the kid Glover a bit nervous but he wasn’t really hammered around the park


Also Baz in the power play took a couple of good wickets

parnell to come as well. I think we have the potential of a good bowling pack

Its a thankless task being involved in sport in many ways, both playing and reporting on it. Youre damned if you do and damned if you don't by at least one of the fans, the press and the players whoever you are and whatever you do

No agenda as some accused me of, and no lies as some accused me of. I just called it as I saw it. It was a very tough watch at great expense and annual leave at work.

It was all clear to see in terms of body language/lack of confidence/players looking confused and the most obvious things..... the results which were absolutely abysmal/players and management didn't speak to the media often in public/members forums very little and then one hastily arranged one as the club were shamed into doing one/head coach always walking round the pitch "on his phone"/squad news not announced sometimes 15-20 mins before a game (I think the game at South North nobody knew the squad never mind team until almost the start/injury updates non existent/players pulled out of NEPL games at the last minute to go on a T20 drinks carrying tour. As some of us said mainly @The Red Telephone when you spoke to people at the ground, close to certain individuals, it was all the same stories coming out so it was no coincidence when it was the same craic every home game. All about standards and last year they were very low at the club. You had a head coach who struggled to answer basic questions in front of a small amount of members and had to get his gaffa to help him out, that's how bad it became, he made David Moyes sound interesting, imagine how the players must have felt listening to that every day/week. Ironically as best period "under him" was when he left for the 100

The turnaround has been absolutely remarkable. Small steps and inevitable bumpy rides ahead which I think we may see soon with the lack of bowling options in the CC, but it's most definitely a happy confident camp and member engagement is again back to where it should be. Good to see Luke Doneathy involved as well tonight, hopefully that can give the lad some belief and confidence and he can get back to his usual self.

On we go for now. Steady away as I like to say, just glad to see our club giving it a good go.

Great start to the campaign. We've had good starts before and then fallen apart, so I'm not going to get too excited too soon, but that was quite the thrashing we gave Northants.... and before the tournament started I thought they had a very strong looking side

I note that Cobb was T20 captain for them right up until a couple of weeks ago and then their coach Sadler, stripped him of the captaincy and gave it to Willey. Cobb who was their most influential T20 player by a mile last season was distraught seemingly... been planning this campaign all winter and early in the season. They've started terribly, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the dressing room is a mess. I sympathise with them. This carry on is exactly the sort of stunt that Franklin would have pulled to show who was boss.... the big daft bollock

As someone has said below, it’s a thankless task.

However I know for a fact that there was a strong portion of the squad 3/4/5 year ago who weren’t fans of him, found his commentary a bit shite, his questioning of them poor, and weren’t 100% sold on his “knowledge” of the game. I must admit, I don’t mind him and find myself looking at his social media to catch up on what is going on rather than the official durham page.

However, that was a long time ago. f***ing hell, Franklin himself feels a long time ago. And for what seems like a long time, I’d rather not focus on that, and would rather look at the superb start to the season we’ve made under a fresh new group

Chuffed we win and I’ll be well into it but want off chest. Clark is a joy but been here all his life. 75% if this team are passing through

5 of last nights lineup are local and/or products of our academy. Think you may want to check your maths. Another is Alex Lees who is most certainly not just passing through. Sowter was unwanted at Middlesex. Robinson came to further his chances of playing all formats. One is an overseas. The other two are Dutchmen who we’ve given an opportunity in county cricket on the recommendation of the new boss - I’m not sure Glover will be with us too long, he doesn’t excite me, de Leede looks more promising like.

Essentially, I think you’re seeing a problem that isn’t really there.

He may also be a Durham fan but that's not his job and he needs to try and remain impartial and just report what's going on.

Agree on all fronts - Marty is a proper experienced journalist and brings that professionalism to his commentary (and that includes his bingo-stock of minorly-cricket-related anecdotes, which is another side to such professionalism),
