T20 :: Northants v Durham

I suppose, but I think it’s east to see how it looks now when he’s sat silent for so long and has only opened his mouth when it is looking quite positive under Campbell.
Marty is a BBC employed commentator (and for what it's worth a very good one). Its his job to commentate on Durham games not slag off the management of the club and the tactics of the captain and coaches. He may also be a Durham fan but that's not his job and he needs to try and remain impartial and just report what's going on.

I for one enjoy listening to him.

Massive lads fan and thoroughly nice bloke anarl.

The T20 is the only one of the three trophies we have never won so it would be great to change that.

Remarkable to think we have multiple championship wins when a few counties who have been there forever have none at all. Somerset, Glocestershire and Northhants I think have never won it.

Whats even more impressive is that only 9 counties have won the championship more than us. We are already half way up the all time list depite gatecrashing the party 100 years late.

Well Colly scored 108 from 60 so no doubt slower than Clark

Be surprised if anyone has been faster in list A.
T20 - According to the members book "Fastest 100 in balls for Durham" - Paul Collingwood 2017 vs Worcester. 57 balls 65 mins. Clarky has smashed that record tonight

Also our record 1st wicket partnership in T20 according to the members book prior to tonight was 133. Short/Steel 133 in 2019

Highest T20 score by a Durham player was 108* by Paul Collingwood vs Worcester in 2017

Fastest first class 100 by a Durham player was 64 balls by Ben Stokes vs Worcester 2022

Highest List A score was Ben Stokes 164 vs Notts in 2014

Sounds remarkably slow give that innings ended up being about 160 off 80 odd didnt it?

Where is finals day held now, edgebaston?

Absolutely crackers moving the finals away from lords. Imagine trying to pretend you take these competitions seriously whilst treating them as shabbily as ftecb have..never put anywhere near the effort into them as the IPL has

Fact is the ECB do not want the County T20 comp to do well as they desperately need their franchise 16.4 to prevail.

I think the T20 Blast is great and the ECB should be trying to promote it and have the finals day at Lords. Its underrated in my opinion. Put it live on the BBC or ITV and it would get decent viewing figures and promote the game massively. Not sure what SKY are paying for it but is the exposure not actualy worth more than the TV money in the long run?

Completely get that, understand it. However…it now doesn’t look great that he is retrospectively saying what a lot thought.

He’s not particularly liked by a number of players (or certainly wasn’t), but again that may well be due to him having to toe the line due his position

Whilst he may not be allowed to speak out (truth be told I never buy into this), he was comfortable enough to talk people down who were critical and calling it out last year. I guess he's entitled to his opinion but it's far too easy now to criticise Franklin, I got a lot of stick for airing my strong views on here/social media and at the ground last year. Opinions I guess, but I'm not having people come out now and criticise Franklin, that's just a bit shitty/sly

I just think you’re attacking the wrong bloke like.
Im backing Clarky and you to be getting IPL contracts by the end of this campaign.

I don’t want one, I’d miss too much Championship cricket ;).

Cheers for that marra

Is that the fastest century for Durham in any format?

Our centurion list in T20s can't be very big.

Thought maybe Stokes in a list A game but was off 88 balls, when he scored that 164 against Notts. Snail like compared to his championship one off 64
colly is the only t20 centurion prior to tonight

You have to remember that in his position, it’s important to maintain working relationships with people. A journalist who pisses off all his sources won’t get a lot of material to work with.

I find it hard to believe that he’s not well liked amongst the players mind, I’m not for one minute questioning that, just find it extremely difficult to believe considering the fact that he’s a thoroughly nice fella and has always come across as polite and amiable when I’ve spoken to him.

Why don’t you ever buy into that?

Journalists will always be in possession of information but if they’ve been asked to keep it to themselves, or atleast delay publication until a specified date/event has occurred then that’s what they have to do - if they want to retain their sources.

That’s a practice that is as old as time itself.
