Boro thread

It’s been an hour or so since a south of Stockton ‘guest’ has posted on here to keep themselves relevant. No Mackems on their websites, so just thought I would be generous and keep the thread going. That’s all and goodnight.

ramsey getting injured was a big blow to us . he was doing great on the right wing . we needed him to unlock the door. akpom did look ordinary on weds be interesting to see what happens in the summer.
i actually thought you would beat luton before the first leg . despite them beating us i wasnt impressed . we passed rings round them. your thoughts ?

With fit squad we'd have beat them easily. But sadly wasn't to be that's football

Boro bottled it big time. They've got a name for bottling games now. The club seems fragile, from the management and players to the fans.
Was having a word with a neighbour before the playoff games, we both agreed we would loose, we are very fragile, total bottle jobs. the only way we will ever get up is first or second.

I’ll say it again, Boro should have gone all out to beat Coventry on the last day of the season. By letting Coventry into the play offs, they totally fucked their chances of promotion.
The second half of the 1st league home game should have been the warning sign .we controlled the game .Victor g under control all the possession .we just couldn't get past them .

I think they’d have had us if they’d beaten Coventry on the final day. Coventry v Luton

I 've found the most interesting thing over the last few days, has been the difference in the reaction to the defeats.
We, generally have taken it on the chin. Yes we are disappointed, but see ourselves progressing with youth, a solid coach, and a decent recruitment set up. A plan if you like.

Boro fans seem to have taken it really badly, and don't seem particularly optomistic about the future. Like they feel this was their "chance", and they didn't take it.

I think we were over it before Kennilworth Rd was empty.
I always felt the away leg at Luton would be a game to far as it proved to be, we've had an amazing season and have lots to be optimistic about.

Don't see how we're bottle jobs like.
We played a two-legged tie against a decent, well organised side who had every right to compete.
One of those two sides lost - it happens.
It will happen to every side in the play-off semi finals, as it will in every competition with a two-legged format.
Does that then mean that every side that loses a two-legged tie 'bottles it' ?
We've turned round a potentially disastrous season onto one where we gave ourselves a chance to get promoted - and fell slightly short.
We lost a two-legged tie by one goal, as did Sunderland and Bolton (I think) - did they bottle it too?
Coventry are a decent side who we've not beaten in four attempts this season.

The confidence this squad will take in to next season will be off the scale marra.
They have exceeded even their expectations at the first go.
They are probably all on the beach now thinking "I wish next season started tomorrow" 😁😁😁

Nah no bottling occurred. Peterborough...now thats a bottling.

Bet they paid over the odds for players like Archer to beat us to his signature out of sheer desperation. Must have surely put them under pressure.

It's not just once is it though, Aston Villa play off didn't turn up, Norwich final didn't turn up. All those Wembley finals not one won, Euro final totally out played, granted we did do well to get there. We just fold in the big games.
