Tony Mowbray

I dont think he should be sacked at all and should be in charge next season. But people can't really claim its a disgrace until you see how the next man performs.

Even if it was De Zerbi every change is a gamble especially from overseas managers. Stick until we need to twist. We don’t need to twist.
Dunno. Truth is Mowbray stays this summer and the clock starts ticking. He’d need a nailed on promotion push to get another 12 months and, if we miss out again, would likely need to be near the top two to see Christmas ‘24 as our manager. That’s just the job these days. If a new lad is a massive improvement, it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to make the change.

He was my choice when Neil left. He’s been a great fit and the perfect man for us. I’m scared of disrupting a good atmosphere at the club and there’s a healthy fear of the unknown. But TM is a top half champ coach. Maybe a replacement is of the level of a De Zerbi, in which case the gulf will be obvious. Would be a huge call - but would probably signal that we really want to go for it. Doubt they’d undercut a new man by selling off most of his squad.
This. I’ve backed Mowbray since day one but not sure why there seems a reluctance to upgrade a manager if we have the chance. The evidence suggests this is Mowbrays level at best - not saying I want him to go here either but I certainty understand the logic of wanting to improve.

If we had the opportunity to sign a better cb than Batth say would we pass it up just because he’s had a great season for us this year? Need to be ruthless when we have the chance if we want to keep improving.

Hes just been talking on Radio Newcastle there as if he will be here next season.

"We can only grow from this point. If we get it right in the summer,
if we recruit well and if we manage to keep more players more fit next year, this squad is good enough to compete again at the top end."
We being the club not him

Think if we'd got promoted they might have gone for one of the foreign head coaches mentioned in press, but Mowbray maybe kept on next season now

It’s a smaller scale, but many - probably including me - couldn’t see the logic of moving on Preece and getting a new keeper coach. However all chatter suggests it’s been a big step up in quality. This is a whole nother level of risk of course, but if it improves us we should consider it.

And if we're languishing in the bottom half with team spirit vanished and a foreign manager whose never worked in this country in charge? It works both ways. Its a big risk. They may well be ruthless, but so are Watford and its not gone well for them being ruthless. We've had no stability in a long time and I fear the rollercoaster ride will start to dip again.

Too many gambles lead to losses. No guarantee the new lad will be better. Mowbray and the head scout are on good terms. We have the conditions and relationships in place for growth without the stab in the dark. Potter or someone with experience in this league maybe. We just played hoofball town it isn’t like Europe. The clock is ticking but can be given a longer life.

Of course there isn’t but theres also no guarantee Mowbray can improve us from here. Look at his time at Blackburn. I am all for giving Mowbray another season rather than unnecessary risk but if an option comes up that we deem a better coach who can take us to the next level we should take it. In the exact same way we would for any player.
