The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

We're in a bit of a strange place as a club at the minute. Mowbray seems like a really good bloke and this set of players are probably the most likeable we've had since the Reid days yet there is very little to like about the people in positions of power/influence in terms of running the club.
They are getting away with alot (well by that I mean doing diddly squat) only because we've had a decent season on the pitch.

Bit bother after the game with the north leaving into the Birmingham fans all pretty much caused by the bomb as the north totally turned at that point.

Will be serious problems if it’s allowed to continue as many have now had enough and are turning.

The odd projectile is going to turn into large scale crowd issues and they have no one to blame other than themselves.

My next step?

No doubt you had an option to buy a BCB season ticket, albeit with a price increase.

I can’t buy a season ticket in the NSU.

Your next step?

Why would I want to buy a bcb ticket, it wasnt my original seat in the sol, just because they moved me didn’t mean I wanted too.
I and my pals decided to love to the south as it was a designated section to make some noise.
Apologies if this upsets you

A Hull fan launched a smoke bomb from up a height.

So very next game …. Another smoke bomb and it happened again.

The away fans response to a stadium announcement requesting that objects not be thrown?

A Chorus of “We’ll throw what we want, we’ll throw what we want, we are Birmingham City, we’ll throw what we want”.

Seems like the search policy is not working?

To be tedious and repetitive I made this point in the earlier post in this thread after the Hull match:

“Under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 SAFC could be liable for prosecution and unlimited fines if a fan is killed as a result of serious management failures resulting in a gross breach of a duty of care.

This could be particularly relevant if SAFC were aware of a systematic safety failure at the ground and then failed to take effective action.

I seriously wonder who is advising the SAFC Board on this issue at the moment.”

The head safety officer is on record confirming the current measures are not adequate but the people above him have refused to implement what is needed.

Didn’t answer my question though mate. Neither of us will convince the other on the best set-up for the SOL so not much point debating it.

The fact is the though is that Sheepfolds was cited as a reason for keeping the configuration ‘as is’. I’m wondering if that’s cos of the building of it or that there’ll be loads of drinkers there by next season.

TBH I reckon if we hadn't won it would have kicked off a lot more. It's human nature to want to take matters into your own hands at some point, it's just we all have different tolerance levels.

Where we were sat in the North stand and that pyro was close to hitting a disabled fan and their mum. We felt so bad for them. This has to stop now and the club need to be doing more for the fans safety. After numerous instances now and the club doing nothing to protect fans, I can see a big compo claim coming through the clubs letter box sooner rather than later if this carry on. I just hope the lady and her child were ok and not put off from coming back.

No such thing as a "mum" in the north east.

Mam FFS!!!!!

A safety net would very likely stop a smoke flare which is the object causing most issues. Its an absolute no brainer to put one there along with getting proper cctv installed and ensuring action is taken against those causing bother.
Totally agree with this - used all over Europe and proven to work / no material impact on watching the match.

I just don't understand throwing stuff. Whether when in the south stand when things got thrown sideways (or the punch ups on the aisle separating the swc) or since fans have been above. Seems to have been worse since we dropped to league 1 and since covis
