SOL dropped from Euro 2028 bid?

Sunderland is pretty much in the city centre, especially when the bridge connects town(vaux)to stadium

Not enough accommodation though, might have changed between now and 2028 but who knows. It's a shame it wasn't just an England bid as we'd be pretty much guaranteed be the 7th pick with no doubt something in Yorkshire aswell, absolutely mental that whole region has just been ignored and it's a proper football area aswell especially Sheffield.

Based up a quick scan there are some interesting comments.

To paraphrase:

"Hope Turkey gets the bid"
"But we host big concerts"
"It is cos of the Tories and Saudi money"
"If SJP gets a sponsor they get dropped from the list"
Etc etc...
Best of all "we don't care"

Meanwhile, back in reality there was no way SOL was going to be top choice in the North East. If UEFA looked up SOL they would be expecting to see a stadium like Benfica has.

It is more amusing when you consider how much work your stadium requires in general. See your own posts for reference to this.

Anyway, I shall await my ban I guess.

Hardtackle? Couldn't knock the skin of a rice pudding. You have 4k more seats, better infrastructure in terms of transport and hotels. That is why you got the net.
In isolation Your stadium isn't as good as the SOL, regardless of the fact it needs some work. St James is a decent effort for an old ground redevelopment though.

UEFA looking up SOL wtf man we've had international games here before you dope.

In isolation - really? - OK so I will disregard all the points you (and I) just made. You didn't actually make any points in favour of Sunderland though did you?

There was some point about SJP being an old ground I suppose. I will give you that. I can think of other adjectives than "old" though. "historic" "famous" "iconic" etc etc

You could list reasons why SOL is better rather than just saying " Your stadium isn't as good as the SOL" but you didn't.

So tell me why the SOL is better, I am all ears?
It’s a bid they won nowt yet.
Agreed. Turkey it is then, right?

There was a hint of sarcasm there.

Ps I’m glad I’m not sad enough to post on a rivals forum.

Ah the two final comebacks on here. The nuclear options.

1. Why are you on a rival forum?
2. But you support Murderous evil *****

For point 2 if you want the Euros to be held in Turkey what does that say about you...

Turkey: Significant human rights issues included: reports of arbitrary killings; suspicious deaths of persons in custody; forced disappearances; torture; arbitrary arrest and continued detention of tens of thousands of persons, including opposition politicians and former members of parliament, lawyers, journalists, human rights activities etc.

As for point 1 it is amusing.

With that said, goodnight all.

Not as bad as saudi arabia though

Nobody. But sunderland fans, with the world famous roker roar, would probably make up a large section of the crowd. It might be a bit intimidating for fans of other countries. The more sanitised atmosphere at St James's would suit the tournament more.
FFS.

Turkey is still a relatively westernized country compared to Saudi Arabia. Its leaders were committed to westward integration until Erodgan.

They also don't behead people, and Turkish women live relatively liberal lives and don't have to hide their hair or wear veils.
