Canny song but wtf has he done with his voice? And that suit is ridiculous.

Wow, thats a blast from the past!
They still stick out a decent album every 4 or 5 years. This is the 12th by my count.
Wednesday is the stand out choice. Will listen to Daughter and Hecker as well

The HMLTD gimmick wore off years ago
Jana Horn, Sissoko et al and Young’uns for me also. Then North Americans for my ambient Americana fix and I quite like the last Billie Martin album.

Agreed about HMLTD unless they’ve made big changes. Always about the live show anyway

New Worriers album tomorrow. Off to see them Sunday. Curious to hear it as the single was more synth than the usual punk

Blondshell is very good. Really enjoying the James Holden record too, and the Yaeji one was canny on first go as well.

My usual weekly review:

HMLTD: very theatrical. Essentially, a concept album that's something to do with Worms. A bit nuts.
Blondshell: indie rock singer-songwriter. As @James says, very good. She seems to be getting a lot of press.
The Young'uns: folk from Teesside. If you like their previous stuff, you'll enjoy this. "Richard Moore" is the highlight but the whole thing is good.
Wednesday: very good female fronted indie rock from the USA. Thread hero MJ Lenderman plays guitar.
North Americans: my ambient Americana fix for the week. They're probably the kings of this particular sub-genre.
Jana Horn: very good but very, very fragile (for want of a better word).
Rachel Baiman: a new name to me. She's at the folkier end of Americana. Really interesting.
Josephine Foster: weird/wyrd prog folk type stuff. She's a strange one.
Sissoko Segal Parisen Peirani: jazz with large flecks of Africanness (Ballake Sissoko plays the kora). I like this.
Emma Tricca: a new name to me. She's an Italian guitarist/singer who plays languid alt-rock. This is a terrific album.
Mudhoney: environmentally themed grunge. This is a really enjoyable album. They do what they do and they do it well.
Daughter: they're a band I always thought were a bit wishy-washy but I really like this album. Some very good songs.
TIm Hecker: engaging ambient electronica. Well worth a listen.
Billie Marten: mainstreamish alt-folk, essentially. Decent but not world changing. I preferred her last album TBH.

Album of the week: that'd be Emma Tricca.

There are new albums this week from Ann-Margret, Dave Okumu & the 7 Generations, Dinner Party, El Michels Affair & Black Thought, Feist, Fenne Lily, Fruit Bats, Jesus Piece, Kid Koala, Metallica, Petite Noir, Shannon Lay (covers), Temples, The Tallest Man On Earth, Patrick Wolf, Xylouris White, James Howard, Josienne Clarke, Spencer Cullum, Natalie Merchant, Cindy and Hollow Hand.

I'm travelling for work so probably won't get much of this lot listened to until my return.

New Metallica album is out.
Think it's their best album of this century imo
Just sort of wish they change up the production sound
It's been vary samey since DM imo

I think I underestimated the Young’Uns album. It’s really quite exceptional!

It’s not my type of music but noticed that the album cover is from wearmouth bridge and the songs relate to messages tied to the railings on the bridge. Will try to give it a listen.

Absolutely loving the new Metallica one "72 Seasons". Done the cinema thing last night for the worldwide listening party and now digesting it most of today. Breathtaking piece of work
