The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Away fans have been up there a decade or thereabouts. How many kids have been injured in all those years then?
No idea. But there was one this season, one more than there should be, or do you think there’s an acceptable number of kids that have to be injured before the club take action?
Maybe someone has to fracture their skull or lose their eyesight first?
Would ideally keep them up there but have screens and nets if allowed and sufficient, according to fan meetings the club has explored this option and thought it too expensive

If you shared the same outrage about our fans throwing objects then fair enough but as you don't all you are really doing is outing yourself as a massive hypocrite I'm afraid. Unfortunately football fans throw things. It's pathetic but it happens.

You would get 0p to be precise marra.
Occupiers liability act 1957 👍
Safe from any foreseeable hazard.
Well if what's gone on in the last few years is not foreseeable I don't know what is ?

None of that has ever happened though. You can't take action for things that haven't and might never happen. I remember I got put on my arse as a 15 year old at an away game at Birmingham back in '83 which was the first time I'd ever been punched! Got up dusted myself down and that was that. It never crossed my mind never to go to another away game in case I got hurt.

Show me the evidence of your assumption.
Till then pipe the fuck down and behave.

People throwing glass beer bottles (which has happened multiple times this season) could easily do the damage. Just cos it was dangerous in the 80s, doesn’t mean it should be dangerous now. Bizarre attitude to have.

There was a story about a glass bottle smashing on a seat this season, the seat in question was a season ticket for a young lad on holiday at the time

This 100% happened as well. The lad in the seat next to it held up part of the glass that was wobbling about as half of it was still attached by the label.

The Coventry fans been caught yet or has finding them been sacked off?

You are safer sitting in the North Stand than you are getting to and from the match or being in the pub beforehand. The club aren't going to spend a fortune on fixing a problem that isn't really there, and tbf to them, they haven't.
I can't be arsed anymore I'm off for a kebab and hopefully a shag after 🤣🤣👍👍

Best of luck!

You'll find football clubs are covered against that. Fans are injured inside football grounds every week.
You can take out insurance against public liability of course

But given the number of incidents there have been with solid objects thrown from the away fans seats in the upper level an insurance company may well question whether SAFC have taken all reasonable steps to avoid the risk of fans being injured in the lower bowl and therefore dispute liability.

That is before we get on to any involvement of Sunderland Council’s health and safety team.

I trust the club are “well advised” because from where I sit in the East Stand the current situation is a serious accident - with severe consequences for the club and it’s executive staff - waiting to happen.
