Selling the soul of your club to be successful

Time was you’d hope your club got a top manager and won things that way. Hence our flirtation with that useless knacker McMenemy and constant rumours of Clough or Robson

Nowadays it’s multi billionaire owners

Look at the state of City fans when they score a goal now, polite applause. Listen to the atmosphere at the Ethiad, completely dead. Sit yourself at Manchester Piccadilly a couple of hours before one of their games and watch the hordes of clueless tourists arriving from every destination.

That’s all coming Newcastle’s way. You can’t have it both ways anymore, if you’re going to be consistently successful you are going to have your fan base fundamentally changed. More corporate at the expense of long standing fans. Tourists with deep pockets.

There’s no glory in winning under these regimes. The sheikh at city could have taken over Hartlepool and had the exact same results, might have taken a few seasons more but exact same result ultimately. Same for the geordies, all victories will be hollow.

Majority of them won’t give a fuck, majority of most success starved fans wouldnt, ultimately though there won’t be much satisfaction once everything has been achieved.

To all the self righteous fans on here, I really don't think anyone in the 1950's or before cared a jot about who was on the Board of Directors or where they got their money from when we were the Bank Of England Club. And I rather think many, many fans would care much more even now as it doesn't directly affect them.

I wouldn’t want to be owned by murderers but I’d happily be the richest club in the world where we could attract the best players. I get it when people say it must be boring for man city fans but do you honestly think they would rather go back to league 1 with shaun goater up front? No chance. Just to have a taste of success would be nice. A trophy every 5/10 year. I have a few friends who are Newcastle fans and they obviously had the champions league days and they said the away days going to places like barca and milan ( could be wrong about them teams) were amazing which I don’t doubt it was. Imagine thinking you were going to an away game in spain to watch Sunderland in the champions league. Must be amazing
I think it would be mint to see Sunderland in Europe, but I don't think any future champions league trips the mags might enjoy would live up to the time they were owned by fellow geordies, managed by a club legend and had an exciting home grown team challenging for trophies (and consistently falling short ).

Who's these wanting 50m spent like? I've honestly not seen anyone wanting fasts amounts spent just a f***ing striker brought in that would have seen us mount a credible play off push is what I've been reading the past few months as the lack of striker has hit home.
People whinged when Wigan spent more than us last year. People perpetually use the word “cheap” about manager appointments and signings. I’ve seen certain individuals who know who they are suggesting we should have spent ludicrous sums on Championship Shite.

That's true but this is a personal question and personally I'd hate to have such abject, immoral owners. I would not want to be associated with such a rabble. It would be heartbreaking but I think I'd have to walk away had those murderers taken over my club.
See you have some daft **** laughing at you from the subs bench.. the fuckwit must enjoy being cuckolded by the murderous bastards.. sad prick

I don't want to win that much that I would have a murderous regime in charge of my club. I might be in the minority but I value life over big money signings and potential trophies.

No chance, can already see what it's done to the majority of those deluded ***** up the road.

Hilarious how many politically left Geordies lapped it up and refuse to believe there's a problem allowing that kind of ownership into our football pyramid.

If some stupidly rich owner came in and spent billions on the best players and we won shit, the fans would bite their hands off. Don’t be naive to think they wouldn’t. People only say they don’t want that because Newcastle have mega rush owners. I’d happily take success any day of the week. I’ve suffered enough shite supporting this club.

For many many years mostly as a young lad I would have took anything to be up at the top end of the league and winning cups each season. As I have grown older I appreciate the small things in life which are actually the big things really. Any success we have will be well earned and hard fought for. What that happens, which isn’t very often it feels just that much better. It has to right.
Totally agree. Imagine having a super model on your arm and showing off all ower the place but she’s getting fucked bandy every day by some rich bloke and you don’t care cos you just want people to think you’re mint.. welcome to being a mag these days! 😂

You don’t speak for everyone
If you think welcoming torturers and murderers who chop folk up who disagree with them is worth it then fair enough. Plenty don’t

Part of the pleasure (for the want of a better word) of supporting SAFC is the struggle of trying to achieve something. Our good days will feel so much better because we have a lot of bad days, the journey is better than the destination as they say.

If we became state owned, we'd become like Man City fans where trips to Wembley to win a cup became a chore. The first few trophies would be exciting but you haven't really earned them, you just happened to be the play thing of a rich state at that time.

True that.

They are desperate for the world to say it would react the same as them if murderers bought their beloved club. Unfortunately, many, many people would be appalled, disgusted and unaccepting at such a turn of events. It's called having morals, and strangely many have decent morals. They hope one day the world forget that any success, any progress is directly down to their acceptance of blood money. No one will ever forget or allow them to forget it.

"The time when the Premier League comments publicly on regulatory issues is when it's charged, and at the end of the process when an independent panel has decided whether any rule breaches have actually taken place. The investigatory process, we don't talk about at all."

Sounds very much like there’s an ongoing investigation on State ownership of Newcastle… Let’s see how that unfolds

This. If they weren't investigating, surely they'd just have said "we're not investigating", rather than the old "no comment".

Let’s hope they are returned to the land of the real World.
Man City too!
