New Music Releases Thread

New Saul Adamczewski next month. Seems a very limited run though as it can only be purchased at his live shows. Hopefully get on sorted for his Cluny2 show.

Really looking forward this, think he's brilliant. Need someone to hoy it online though, I can't make the London gig as I'm away. Think it's being done this way as he's had a nightmare with a previous record label, this was meant to come out ages ago.

Should end up online like, just had a look there and you can buy the LP when you get a ticket so if you know anyone going locally to you see if they’ll add it onto their order for you mate

We have new releases this week from 6LACK, Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer and Shahzad Ismaily, Baby Metal, Benny Sings, Caroline Rose, Depeche Mode, Fall Out Boy, Jimin, Kate Davis, Kele, Lana Del Rey, Liturgy, Nobel Rot, The HIRS Collective, The Natural Lines, Willie J Healey, Black Country New Road (Live at Bush Hall), Heartworms (an EP), Billy Valentine, Alison Eales, Neil Cowley, Purling Hiss and Lankum.

H. Hawkline - more Welsh wonkiness. There's a distinct Gorkys vibe here. Enjoyable.
I think it's excellent. As Cate Le Bon was the producer, I thought it would be worth hearing, but it's even better than I'd hoped it would be. Agree about the Gorky's vibe. I also hear a bit of Roxy Music and Madness.

Empire State Bastard (Simon Neil's side project with Biffy's live second guitarist and Dave Lombardo, drummer of bands like Slayer) have a song, Harvest, out today. Only give it a listen if you like Biffy's screamo/metal stuff

It's okay. I like the ones that Tyler leads on. The others less so.

I like what they're doing though and think there's potential there for something brilliant, they're all ridiculously talented. Hard act to follow AFUT though!
Yeah, that was such a brilliant album and I can’t imagine them bettering it

Just glad I got to see them at the very start

My usual weekly review, some good stuff here:

Heartworms: a highly promising, slightly gothy EP, looking forward to more.
Black Country, New Road: as discussed, the first thing they've released since Isaac left. It's very good.
The Natural Lines: the man who was Matt Pond PA previously. Melodic and fun indie rock.
Kate Davis: a good album. Indie singer-songwriter in the Sharon van Etten, Phoebe Bridgers etc. mode.
Neil Cowley: jazz/classical piano pieces. Reminds me a bit of The Necks.
Purling Hiss: pretty darn great. Dinosaur Jr turned up to 11 slacker rock as always. A belter!
Lankum: just magnificent. One of the best bands we have currenty. The Turn, in particular, is spectacular.
Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shahzad Ismaily: very good, touches on jazz, south Asian classical and other influences.
Yves Tumor: I'm a week late to the party but this is excellent. Has a similar vibe to Young Fathers' latest.
Lana Del Rey: she's on good form here. Maybe not a great deviation from her past work but excellent songs and good guest spots.
Alison Eales: she's a long standing member of Butcher Boy. Some of this follows on from their melodic indie, some doesn't good.
Depeche Mode: paired down to a twosome by circumstance, this is their best in many a year.
Caroline Rose: third (?) album from the idiosyncratic, genre hopper. This is never less than fun.

AotW: Lankum, clearly.

Lankum hasn’t grabbed me at all. But I just the judgment of those that love them so will persist

They're not for everyone, I know plenty who just cant take Radies voice, its just not for them.

Can't wait to hear the new stuff live
I had a listen earlier and was rather disappointed based upon reviews which I had read. It reminded me of lengthier versions of the incidental music used in the background on Peaky Blinders during the gypsy scenes.

I'd give it more time, it does tend to seep into your brain but once it does its so good. They're not a band that will click instantly.
Definitely go see them though if you get the chance, they're phenomenal live.

They're playing Green Man in August. I'm just hoping that they're not scheduled at the same time as Spiritualized.
