Ah but it'l cost a fortune in biscuit costs to keep him on
Hope he's ready for the flak that comes his way if we dont go up in next couple of seasons

How much of that is his fault for not rocking the boat though? I think given where we were mid-January he could probably have pressured the club to bring someone in if he’d wanted to. Even a “Plan B” big lump.
You can’t go along willingly with the notion of not singing players who don’t fit perfectly, then a few weeks later complain you weren’t given the right tools.
After QPR he was the best manager we had ever had on here. Then he has a run if 4 (yes 4!) games where :
We draw with a strong Bristol C side to an unlucky pen
Lose slimly to Rotherham with dubious refereeing
Lose slimly to a strong Coventry side
Get battered by Stoke in typical Sunderland fashion, but with a team of kids who’ve been playing in a hard league back to back games since Christmas
As a result:
Mowbray on borrowed time
Gelhart is useless
We need to get Harry Gardiner playing
Mowbray is tactically inept
We’re a weak side
Oh, classic Sunderland bed wetting.
Have we not learned over the years that peddling manager after manager, going all Edvard Munch face every time we have a bad run, slagging off the players, attacking the recruitment team, moaning about the transfer window etc etc etc doesn’t work
What do folk want? I bet I’d be able to find posts from August that said ‘let’s just enjoy this season’, ‘21st place will do me’, ‘hope we don’t get battered every week’ , ‘at least we aren’t in League one’
It’s March, we’ve won more games than we’ve lost. We are playing the most entertaining football we’ve played for years, the manager is experienced and cares, most of the players are amazing prospects.
Give them a break, man
Top half of the Championship is brilliant. If we lose more than we win this season at least we did better than nearly everyone expected.

If we carry on with ridged strategy with no room for manoeuvre when market forces and external changes demand he won't be the one getting most of the grief. The end of this season is currently a shit show and if it continues we need to get off to a flying start or the penny will drop for many.Hope he's ready for the flak that comes his way if we dont go up in next couple of seasons
It may be due to his closeness to the board before AN went. He was in directors area watching games home and away. He's also very close to recruitment team. His age, location and availability when he came mean he's grateful for the role. That all means he's less likely to "rock the boat". Having said all that he has been speaking a lot about strikers (or lack of) recently so maybe even a "yes man" can be unhappy with transfer business. What’s all this ‘yes man’ shite about?
I can’t remember anyone saying Mowbray was the best manager we’ve ever had, certainly not post QPR away where the 0-3 probably slightly flattered us.
We lost to both Rotherham and Coventry because they bullied us off the park and then were humiliated to the point of embarrassment against Stoke recording our worst home loss in the league for years.
The kids that have been playing week after week since Christmas are in the side because Mowbray keeps picking them while choosing not to select others who continue to warm the bench.
I’m not saying he should be sacked and I feel he’s done an excellent job overall which has now been made extremely difficult by the recruitment teams’ failures in January.
As far the top half of the championship being “excellent” I’d argue that Burnley apart there’s no outstanding sides. Competitive yes but excellent quality not for me.
With the addition of a competent forward and cover for Evans in January I think we’d have had an excellent chance of a top six finish.

How many times in 17 years? Would you have Bruce back as I believe he has more? How did he get on at West Brom?
Promotion to the premier
