Mowbray

i don't think we've played particularly well since the game at fulham.
mowbray has to take some of the criticism, same as the striker situation is down to the recruitment team.
i'd also say that imo the players have to take their share as they seem to have been sucked in by all the plaudits after that fulham game and since then have seemed to think they're better than they are. on their day they're a match for anyone in this league but they need to work a lot harder.
i wasn't at the match yesterday mind as on holiday so not sure exactly how bad it was, just going off other recent performances.

We looked good at QPR away but they were doing terrible at the time.

You can blame Speakman for ruining our season for not bringing a striker but Mowbray isn’t blameless for me. It’s his job to find a solution. It’s not ideal with the hand he’s been dealt but why not change the formation go 2 up top and just try someone like Onien with Gelhardt. He might be garbage up top but can’t be any worse than it is at the minute least he will give us an out ball and give Gelhardt some support. If he persists playing the same way we could plummet down the league. As soon as teams nullify the front 3 we have no ideas to break them down
This might be a controversial idea, and I have my tin hat on, but why don’t we try Gooch up there.
A strong and committed player who will fight and niggle, and has proved in the past he can score goals.

Can i blame both and the players?

Mowbray got it badly wrong yesterday. The starting 11, tactics and subs were all wrong.

None of us can get our head round us not bringing a striker in. Nothing sticks in the final 3rd and we have nobody to stick the ball in the net. Not sure what data they are using to build the squad but if it doesn't show goals win games, it's fucked.

The players were off the ball yesterday, it happens sometimes.

Seems like such a waste of season, I know we would have been buzzing to be midtable at the start of season, but the go from 4th to the season over in a month is poor.

We had 60 and 70 odd percent possession v Rotherham and Coventry man!
Today was hopeless, but we're not pinging balls out and under pressure all game as we can't get the ball to an outlet.

Edit 65 and 72% posession

it's all a knock on effect. we can have loads of the ball but we inevitably just end up passing it around the back as there's nowhere to go. frustration then builds as everything breaks down with the lack of presence in the final third

...and it won't be forgotten.
Yes we have no striker, Speakman is to blame for that, but we have defenders and are able to put 11 lads out on the field.

Yesterday's performance was down to tactics, preparation on the training ground and team selection. Speakman does not control those things.
That performance was unforgivable.
Have you any idea how much pressure is automatically put on everyone else through not having a striker?

Why is everything on Speakman or Mowbray

Maybe the striker problem was from the fact they werent given the funds to buy one !!!

Yesterdays result was horrific and i agree something didnt seem right

More than likely this was why. We had a target over for a meal in Romano’s but didn’t sign him because we couldn’t get him on a free from what I can gather.

That doesn’t explain why Speakman came out after the window and categorically stated we don’t need a striker because we don’t need a focal point in direct confliction to Mowbray saying we need a focal point.

We’ve got recruitment saying we don’t play with a focal point so don’t need to sign anyone and the head coach/manager saying he plays with a focal point so needs one.

we looked good in patches there i thought. i just think if we're on the front foot we look good but when things aren't going our way the players don't look to have the collective mettle to be up for a scrap to change the game.
it's difficult to criticise them because some of the football i've seen from this season has been some of the best i've seen us play in 45 years of going to the games. also i think their age/inexperience has played a factor recently but i do have faith that will come in the future. certainly not going to spit the dummy out......yet :)

Totally agree we are left in a horrific state because of this reason and maybe thats why we have TM in charge as the board and speakman know he will just go with it

Possession means nowt though if it doesn’t lead to scoring goals, it certainly doesn’t win you games.

Mowbray is an idiot and shouldn’t have ever been appointed at this club tbh. We need a young and progressive manager who adopts things like sports science and buys into the data driven approach on the field to supplement this approach to our signings. No point in signing players that suit a certain directive if our manager doesn’t play towards said directive
He’s not a manager. He’s a head coach who has no real clout unfortunately. Oh for a strong character in charge. His press conferences are embarrassing of late, very negative and psychologically destructive-he needs to remember the players will see them too.

The not getting a striker in is poor and has cost us any chance of a play off position for sure.

I don't believe that we didn't have funds available.
I don't believe that we didn't have offers in for Strikers.
You can't make a club sell to you. You can't make a player want to come to you.

I think truth of the matter is the players that we were in for were not available and when push came to shove they decided to not pay way over the odds for any old shite. We've seen where that has taken us.

The perfect storm of Injury to Ross, Everton being shit and recalling Simms and general lack of movement in the transfer window is what has cost us.

Where you can lay blame is on TM for being tactically bested and the players for putting in substandard performances over the last 4 or 5 games.

Conceeding 5 at home to Stoke City is very hard to take.
That's on the manager, his coaching staff and the players.

The complete collapse in the last third of the season will derail all the positive work. All that for paying a couple of million on players we needed!
